New Star Wars Movie

Now that the new Star Wars movie The Clone Wars has been announced (Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008)), I was wondering if anyone knows if Lucasfilm contacted Christopher Lee about voicing Count Dooku? I know Corey Burton did the voice for the TV series and the video games (couldn't hold a candle to CL's voice though) but I thought they might ask him back for another big-screen outing. Just thought I'd ask if anyone knew anything.

P.S. Off-topic, but I came across this interesting nugget in the Rumours section on Ian McKellen's official website:

I wondered the same thing so I did some research. Unfortunatly for us Corey Burton has been cast as Count Dooku in the upcoming Clone Wars movie. However the tv show that will follow the movie hasn't announced the voice of Dooku yet so there is still some hope.

Aw dangit. I know CL and Corey Burton are probably friends, seeing as they worked together on Kingdom Hearts II, but his voicework is nowhere near as good as Mr Lee's. Ah well, I suppose Mr Lee had better projects to do.

Burton has a fine voice . but Mr Lees is instanly recognizable. I'm sure Mr. lee had a full schedule which prevented him fron doing the role.

Mr. Lee has recorded the voice of Count Dooku for this movie a couple of months ago.

It was however, the first time he had to lip synch to a character because they had produced the animation before recording his voice.

That's great news Juan. Having made the character so memorable in the live action movie, it would have been a shame not to have had his instantly recognisable voice over the animated Count Dooku.

WOW okay it's been a while since I checked back on this thread. That IS great news indeed, thanks Juan. And you're right Steve - I couldn't imagine anyone else voicing him, especially since he was given way too little screen time in the last film.

Christopher Lee returning to Star Wars AND potentially Lord of the Rings? Now he's just spoiling us :)

The new trailer for "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" is out. Little dialogue, lots of action. But the recognisible voice of Mr. Lee really stands out.

One webeditor, who obviously doesn't know what we know, wrote somewhere that the "Christopher Lee impersonator"in the trailer sounds suprinsingly close to the original.. ;-)
