The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
I found this bit on a 'New' DVD coming out on the 28th of August. It is called the 'Christopher Lee Signature Collection'. There are three films: Murder Story/Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace/Count Dracula and his Vampire Bride. It also has a 'Poster Gallery' and 'Christopher Lee Trailers'.....
The picture on the front shows Mr. Lee's 'signature'.....
The first two movies I have seen and are good.....Haven't seen the last though....
Anyway, I was just curious, because the 'title' of the DVD and Mr. Lee's 'signature' makes it look like Mr. Lee was somehow 'putting his signature' to these films.....Was Mr. Lee involved or even 'asked'?
I do appreciate the fact that some of Mr. Lee's earlier films (some difficult to find) are finally making it to DVD......
If you are interested, here is the link to some sites that have the info....

Re: The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
I rather doubt it I could be wrong count Dracula and his Vampire Brides, is probably not one of his favourites, unless he has some attachment to Mr Cushing being in it. These things get released by the companies that made the films, they usually don't ask the person involved Kaitlin

Re: The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
Kaitlin, I doubt that you are wrong...I just think it is interesting that they can get away with 'somewhat' misleading advertising......
I may be wrong but I wouldn't consider any of those films (though good films) to be a 'Christopher Lee' Signature....
Now The WickerMan, Jinnah, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, Gormenghast, The Mummy or even House of Long Shadows (just to name a few) would be my picks for a collection. Or some of the 'lesser known's: Nothing but the Night, The Keeper, The Skull....
Cheers,
Helen;)

No, he was not. From a legal stand point, using a copy of his signature is a breach of his moral rights. Nevertheless, it is not worth persuing.

It is sad that the same respect that distribution companies (making copies, etc) expect doesn't extend to the artists. I didn't think Mr. Lee was involved....Terribly misleading though....
Thank You Juan for taking the time to post.
Cheers,
Helen

Re: The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
Regarding this release, I would say to anyone inquiring to not purchase it, as the distributor is a well known bootleg company, specializing in very cheap collections of bootleg titles often copied from already available, legitimate, releases, such as the Hammer film. Some of what they offer may be public domain, but those titles are often mixed in with the illegal ones.
There has been some debate as to whether the Hammer title is public domain or not, but I have a hard time believing that anything from them would be,especially the last of a popular series of films.
I'm not surprised to see this distributor doing something crass like this, given their history.

Re: The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
Dracula and His Vampire Bride is another release title for The Satanic Rites of Dracula, better versions of the film are definitely available.

Re: The Christopher Lee Signature Collection?
I recommend the anchorbay entertainment edition entitled the Hammer Collection.
