Re: House Of The Long Shadows
It would be marvellous to see a DVD release of House of the Long Shadows. As previously mentioned, the film itself is rather mediocre but to see those four great actors together really is something special.
I think that Vincent Price gets to have the most fun and he utters my favourite line from the film - "Please don't interrupt me whilst I am soliloquising."
Of course, he doesn't have it all his own way as the painful grimace on Mr Lee's face while listening to Sheila Keith's awful singing is priceless!

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
hi everyone,
Well, what can I say, is a movie where acting excellent four gentlemen!
Was an amazing idea to combine all this talents of John Carradine, Chris Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price in the same film!
It´s horror and funny movie too!
All the best!
Christian

Yes, let's hope they do, Helen!:)
It has been many years now since I last saw the film but those memorable moments remain in the memory.

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
Hi. I had just noticed this thread now. There were some titles with Christopher Lee and Hammer films in general I was looking for, House of the Long Shadows one of them. I had good luck on the site, ioffer.com. They are usually laser disc or vhs to dvd transfers. The picture and sound quality are quite good and the pakage and discs come with complete artwork. I great site to get hard to find Christopher Lee and Hammer Films....
-good luck,
David Pecchia.

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
Can anyone tell me any of the locations used in filming House of the Long Shadows? The house interiors look genuine, as do the interiors of the restaurant at the beginning and the end. Does anyone know where these places are? Thanks!

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
House of the Long Shadows is one of my favourite films because it brings together Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and John Carradine. I do have a copy of the film but it would be great if it got a proper release on DVD.

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
House was a disappointment considering the acting chops of the men cast in it. in many ways House was like the myriad lugosi-Karloff films that followed Frankstein and Dracula. legendary actors who defined "sinister' for a generation, stuck in films that constrained their talents and wasted them. House oscillated between camp and terror, never really falling into either camp. If it was supposed to be camp, then go all out. Id teror, then do the same for that..

Hi Stuart. I have just purchased and watched this on a DVD off Ebay, which I will not recommend, as it is quite poor quality, but I did enjoy seeing the four of them together on film for the first time. As you say Mr Lee's face is a picture as he listens to Sheila Keiths singing. I also enjoyed the way in which Peter Cushing played his character as well. I especialy liked the scene in the secret passage way with Julie Peasgood as he utters those words, and suddenly they are plunged into darkeness..... very chilling... wonderful acting.
All the best.

Yes, I agree Steve - Peter Cushing does play his part very well. In fact, even though Vincent Price gets the best lines, I think that Peter gives the best performance of all - a very different character to the kind we are used to seeing him play.

Re: House Of The Long Shadows
I hope that one day, just maybe, the film will get a proper release on DVD. However, I am afraid that day is quite a long ways away...
