Cool London

Okay,

Mid august is quite a while away and since some of you might
be familiar with England, more then I or my cousin I'll be staying at
I was wondering if anyone had tips on where to go.

I'm most certainly going to the Big Ben, London Museum and things like that
but there also are haunted places and 'horror dungeons' where students work as entertainters.

I'm looking for those kinda things. Anyone have suggestions?

There are some wonderful 'London Walks' that are guided that you can take...There is 'Haunted London' and 'Jack the Ripper's London' to name a few....

You might also like to visit St. Paul's (The Actor's Church) by Covent Gardens and visit Mr. Lee's Silver Star on the 'London's Walk of Fame'.......

There are so many wonderful things to see and visit in London.....And the people are absolutely fabulous...From Taxi Drivers to Shop Keepers.....We adore London and her people.....Have a great time!

Cheers,
Helen

Will do that!

Oh, silly question I know but I'm a Harry Potter geek. I heard a rumor that they'd built a part of Diagon Alley and the Leaky Cauldron?

Is Mr. Lee's house easily accesible? If I can't visit him I plan to take his sleeping hat as a souvenir! :ninja: :P

Re: London

London!!!

DREAM

I dreamed as small child,
And as larger child.
I dreamed as adolescent,
And as a young adult
I dream today, a dream that died never...
London!

London of the famous clock,
It is also of the great river.
London of the narrow streets
And of the great constructions.
London of the days with sprinkle
And of your umbrellas.
London of the flowery gardens
With your very green gram.
London of the red buses
And of the steering wheel "on the other side."
London of the famous museums
And of the Royal palace.
London of the grandiose Universities
And of the charming education.
London of Beatles, of the miniskirt
And of the movement hippie.
London...

London of Peter Cushing
And of CHRISTOPHER LEE.

A Brazilian singer, Caetano Veloso, lived a long time in London, he composed and it recorded the music London, London. Years later she was interpreted by Paulo Ricardo.

London, London
I'm wandering round and round nowhere to go
Estou vagando, rodando, sem direção
I'm lonely in London London is lovely you
Estou solitário em Londres, Londres és adorável
I cross the streets without fear
Cruzo as ruas sem medo
Everybody keeps the way clear
Todos abrem caminho
I know I know no one here to say hello
Eu sei, eu sei que não há ninguém pra dizer oi
I know they keep the way clear
Eu sei que o caminho está aberto
I am lonely in London without fear
Estou sozinho em Londres sem medo

I'm wandering round and round nowhere to go
Estou vagando, rodando sem direção
Oh sunday, monday, autumn pass by me
Oh, domingo, segunda, outono passam por mim
And people hurry on so pacefully
E pessoas apressadas tão em paz
A group approaches a policeman
Um grupo aborda um policial
He seems so pleased to please them
Ele parece tão satisfeito em atendê-lo
It's good at least to live and I agree

Shame I that I cannot understand English, Marije well.
And I had plenty time for that... hum!

Below the sentences in English is the translation in Portuguese / Brazilian.

A work friend (that never dreamed in being in London, like her same she says), it was visiting some countries of Europe last year. She says she that what got a lot of your attention was the kindness of the Briton. :shakehand

British are very nice but they're also a tad bit silly right Mr. Lee :P

I learned English throughout my life because my mum watched Oprah, Bold and the Beautiful (don't ask me bloody why. Even I know now without watching it what's going on :P) and ofcourse GAMING!!!

Right now I don't even read books in Dutch anymore, heck, I barely talk Dutch :P

Bad girl, Marije! What a thing to say about the English!

We Americans love them. And we're lucky: the English still like us, too! We're not the most popular country, I hear.

Language-wise, my cousin the filmmaker was in Amsterdam, recently, & what he loved best about it was that everybody spoke ENGLISH, like all the time. He felt right at home.

French, German and English are compulsory studies we have to take at school. Then we have (or atleast I) had Biology history (which I loved the most but our teachers sucked monkey) and err...what more..Oh yeah, arts and something else
