ROTK: Saruman death rattle.....

I was surfing the web checking to see if there was anything new and interesting in relation to Mr. Lee. Although I have visited the on-line encyclopedia, Wikipedia in the past, I had never bothered to see what it said about Mr. Lee....Perusing the page dedicated to Mr. Lee, I ran into this interesting bit of trivia:

In a brief discussion of Mr. Lee's role in ROTK it said the following:.....

......."Lee served in the military during World War II, where he acquired the knowledge of the noise a person makes when stabbed in the back (though the exact circumstances of this knowledge are still covered by the Official Secrets Act). He put this to use when filming The Lord of the Rings, as can be seen on the Extended Edition DVD of The Return of the King."...... from Wikipedia.

I was wondering if anyone knew the validity of this statement......

Cheers,

He served as intelligence officer is the SAS. The secrets act forbids him from saying how it acquired that knowledge but it doesn't take much imagination. He was obviously very close in situations where people got stabbed in the back.

He did use that information for his reaction in ROTK, in the same way he used it in Penny and the Pownall Case when he gets shot.

Re: ROTK: Saruman death rattle.....

Thank You Juan, I wondered if Mr. Lee had in fact used that 'sound' in the extended edition, as I haven't seen it yet. It is also interesting that he used the 'sound' in the first film he appeared in.

I just recently obtained Corridor of Mirrors, but have been unable to date to locate a copy of Penny and Pownall Case. Of all the movies of Mr. Lee's that I have seen advertised as 'RARE', this one seems to be the rarest..(With the exception of Katarsis and El Umbracle, of course).......

Cheers,

Helen

I can see it now: Mr. Lee finally parts this earthly veil, and Franco Zefferelli (looking on with awe and admiration) is moved to say, "Very nice, print it!", and sends the entire staff off to lunch! How many films exist where he DOESN"T die?!

Difficult to say, you will need to have seen them all and then count them. I don't think many people have,

Very quickly and to the top of my head, most of his comedies which is about 25 movies.

Then you have Sleepy Hollow, El Umbracle. Depending on which character, That Lady and most of his films while working for Rank. All the Sherlock Holmes.

There are plenty. To give a rough figure, I would say about 50-60. Maybe more.
