Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

I have this edition (I take it you mean the one in the black leather-look case?), and have had no problems with it.

I bought mine second-hand from an Ebay seller, so it would be less surprising if the tray in mine had come loose, or the disc been scratched, than it is in the one which you bought new. But in fact, the trays are both securely affixed in my copy. The soundtrack album has a few scratches on it (as the seller stated before I bought it), but I'd assumed that was due to it being left lying around the place, rather than due to movement within the box (and anyway, it plays fine, so I don't care!).

I do think it is a bit silly to have 3 discs in the set, but only two stacks for them to sit on. Really, the set needs another leaf in the middle with another stack on it. But as I say, in my set, it doesn't actually seem to have caused a problem, so it is possible that your seller has a bad batch or something.

Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

It would seem so. I bought mine of the High Street about 3 weeks ago. But it hd not been glued properly. To be honest this really didnt bother me as i glued it miself. But their isn't sufficient clips to hold 3 discs. 2 of my discs had been clipped over one clip. This is not only a problem with the wicker man but with other films in the classic collection. You call still buy this off sendit.com although its a bit pricey.

Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

It's a double version containing the soundtrack album?

It sound very nice!
Is it an american release?

The version I have is one I bought in London some time ago (2/3 years back) a two disc set with one disc the theatrical version and bonuses and on the other the director's cut.
I know there is a very nice looking american version...
But I have never heard of this one...

Could you place some more information to this disc?
BTW: It looks very wonderful to see this movie in the shelffs of a store (there was a hole wall funn with copies of this dvd...)
And that while here in the Netherland it is still not released

Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

Thanks for all the replies. I have asked for a replacement and it should arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed for third time lucky.

VladTepes, here is a link to the product: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...Fencoding=UTF8 It's the UK site of Amazon and the dvds are Region 2. I think you should be able to import it if you can't get it in your country.

Click on the link for more pictures (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...814663-5862254) and you can see everything that comes with the boxset. It includes the two versions, a soundtrack CD, 35mm sentiype, booklet and an offer for a poster.

It's also available from sendit.com and play.com. I also saw it on sale in Virgin for about £40 at the weekend. However, this was after I had sent my faulty copy back for a replacement.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes all

Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

Hi all

Me again. It wasn't third time lucky although this boxset was in the best condition of the three. The discs weren't loose this time (the set had been opened by the retailer to ensure that they were secured properly), but they were still very badly scuffed.

It's being returned tomorrow for a refund. I just hope I get my money back including the postage I have had to pay each time to retun the boxsets.

Best wishes all

Question Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

Let us know how this turns/turned out. Are you going to try to find this box set elsewhere?

I'd really like to find a Region 1 version of it, once I can afford it. The Wickerman is one of my favorite films. I'd also like a copy of the soundtrack, because it was definitely different.

That's no fun. I had no problems with my copy. You are talking about the very pretty set with the Wood box.. right?
I picked mine up from my local video guy and it was wonderful.
Now if only my Snazzy box set of Jinnah and ROTK would ever show up.. life would be good!
:)

Re: Quality of The Wicker Man (Classic Collection) dvd boxset?

Over here in the US the Wicker Man set in the wooden case can be found just about anywhere (Suncoast, Best Buy, etc). Inside was a double CD case rather than a fixed plastic piece. I've gotten a boxed set with the problem you're describing before. Sometimes picking up a regular single DVD you can tell that the plastic inside is broken. Although it's unfortunate I don't think it's uncommon.
