Thumbs up Favorite CL film?

I was wondering what is everyone's favorite CL film? In my case, I would have to say probably the LOTR trillogy, followed by The Man With the Golden Gun (I'm a huge Bond fan as well), and The Wicker Man.

Re: Favorite CL film?

My favourite film? OH well, that is not easy, because he played so different roles in different movies - and he was always brilliant! Just for example, today I watched the French movie "Dracula pèr et fils", in Germany it is called "Die Herren Dracula". Very confusing title, because he is not named DRACULA in that film!!! I don`t know why they did something strange like that.
But I like the movie sooooo much! It was made in 1976, and I remember watching it when I was a young girl. I bought the DVD now and enjoyed it this afternoon. So funny, and to watch Mr. Lee, playing that funny, full of humour, was gorgeous. I think, he looks irresistible in the film and I am sure, I will watch it again soon.

Maybe one of the "forgotten" movies but I love it!
Although I had to watch it in German, because I don`t understand French...and I had the choice between German and French. Such a shame, I missed Mr. Lee`s beautiful voice!!!

But coming back to the Thread: I think I have no real favourite movie of Mr. Lee but I am a fan of the old Hammer films, I can`t deny - and I don`t want to!

Best wishes,
Danni

Re: Favorite CL film?

Well, I gave my vote for Wicker Man, simply magnificent ! I believe that all of the comments were already made on this film.
But I also have, heading my list of preferences: Rasputin and Whip and the Body. This last one I saw in Italian, in the movies, after a lot of insistence and events as I spoke in other posts... Well, I also missed Mr. Lee's voice in Whip and the Body. That Kurt was splendid! Did you already see Kurt, Daniela?

Wink Re: Favorite CL film?

There are too many of Mr. Lee's films that are 'my favorites', so it was hard to vote. I had to give the LOTR my vote though, as Mr. Lee as Saruman was perfect.

But The Wickerman, Hound of the Baskervilles, Nothing but the Night, House of Long Shadows, Corpse Bride, Arabian Adventure, The 3 (and 4) Musketeers and Jinnah are right up there too...See I told you there were too many!

It is fun to see what everyone's 'favorites' are too!

Cheers,
Helen

Dracula ( aka Horror Of Dracula) It introduced me to Hammer and Christopher Lee and is still the best movie version of the tale............ by a mile !!!

If I was only allowed to own and watch one of Mr Lee's films.... what a terrible thought, I would have to plump for "The Devil Rides Out". I really enjoy Mr Lee's commanding performance in this film. He dominates every scene he is in.
All the best everyone.

Completely agree there, Steve. Mr Lee gives a towering performance as the noble Duc De Richleau and Terence Fisher's direction delivers thrills and suspense in equal measure.

In my opinion, this is Hammer's best film.
