I was working on my husband's family tree - a cousin of his three times removed, Alice Holt, married John Hulme the son of an industrialist in Bolton called Crompton Hulme. John had a sister called Elizabeth Ellen Hulme and she married William Hesketh Lever and they were Lord and Lady Leverhulme (Unilever - Port Sunlight) as I started to develop this line - various names popped into the tree - ie Parker-Bowles, Bowes Lyon, Winston Churchill. I was sceptical of course, but no everything checked out. A family called de-Trafford then started to appear - one man in particular Dermot Humphrey de Trafford - the 6th Baronet de Trafford.

I found he had married for a second time to Zandra Carandini Lee - sister of Christopher.

How wonderful - I have always been a fan - when I was younger I loved the Hammmer Dracula movies - and one I film I watch with fascination is The Whicker Man - as muy own great grandmother was born in Gatehouse of Fleet and Anwoth in Kirkcudbrightshire near where the film was shot.

I am now working the Lee/Carandini line and it is really interesting.,

Bye for now

Extend Family History Branch from Australia

Hello to All & Sir Christopher Lee,

While I am very new to using Forums like this, I too have found my indirect connection to Sir Christopher's Great Grandmother "Madam Marie Carandini".

I have found that my connection is back one further generation to Martha MEDWIN (2nd Great Grandmother of Sir Christopher) who first married James BURGESS in 1825, believed to be @ St Mary, Lambeth, Surrey, England. They later immigrated to Hobart Tasmania Aust in 1833. Unfortuantly James died in 1835.

My connection is via Martha's 2nd marriage to William CLARKE in 1836. I personally been tracing my Family Tree for 20yrs now. I have been slowly collecting a number of books on Early Opera in Australia with regards to extended info on the Carandini Family. The ultimate would be to be able to locate & purchase a copy of any rare Carandini Audio recording, while knowing that, so far I have found out that a 3rd generation was also well know for Opera performances in Australia in the State of Queensland Aust.

Kindest Regards - Darryn.
