Thumbs up Your Golden Role for CL

Just for fun:

1) Which do you think was Christopher Lee's best role?
2) Which was the part that made you realize that Christopher Lee was your favorite actor?
3) And, if you had the chance, which role would you give him to portray?

In my case:
- Saruman
- Saruman
- Saruman in 'The Hobbit' (among many others)

Of curse, as a CL-fan you will say that every part that Christopher Lee have played is wonderful, but make a choice

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

1. Mr Lee's best ever performance, and the role of his career, was as Jinnah. However, my personal favourite CL role was the noble Duc de Richleau in The Devil Rides Out.

2. Professor Saxton in Horror Express. This was the first Christopher Lee movie I ever saw and I was hooked from the start.

3. If I had the chance, I would give Mr Lee the role of Don Quixote. This is the role he would still dearly love to play.

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

This is not that easy:

1) Summerisle, Rasputin......
2) Henry Baskerville (when I met him)
3) Bento Gonçalves (character of the history of my state - Rio Grande do Sul)
* D. Quixote

This isn't an easy question BUT....

1- Best role: Lord Summerisle (WICKER MAN). I love to hear him sing and he had so many great lines.

2- Part that made me realize I was a Lee fan? Dracula. When I first saw DRAC HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

3- Part I'd like to see him play? Egghead in a Batman movie.

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

Not an easy question this... but if I had to choose....

I would say that, Jinnah was his best performance to date. But, as Stuart says, I really enjoy his part in The devil Rides Out.

I'm sure I would have seen his Dracula and Hammer performances as a youngster in the early seventies. But I remember very clearly going to see The Man With the Golden Gun at the cinema, when I was a young teen, and this really introduced me to Christopher Lee... the actor. I thought then, and still think today, that he was the best Bond villain.

I believe Mr Lee has expressed a desire to play Merlin, and I have to say, that I would love to see him play this part.... he would be ideal.

How's about CL versus Yoda? Amazing job!
I also loved the cameo in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Oh, I don't know about that, MISTER Scaramanga! ;)

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

I could see him, perhaps as the older Merlin, if a film about him is ever made. There was probably some one called Merlin, just as there was probably some king named Arthur in the 5th century in England. Whether or not the real Merlin was skilled in magic, can only be guessed. Mallory 's Le Mort DArthur- The Death of arthur' did create one of the grreat characters of fantasy though with Merlin.
I'd love to see him in a batman film, especially facing off with Christian Bale. As an aside, if you haven't seen the Dark Knight, I highly recommend it. It is an excellent film.

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

i was first introduced to Mr. Lee when i saw Horror of Dracula when i was very young, from that day i was a fan!
my favourite parts that he played:
1 Saruman
2 Raptor in "A feast at Midnight" and Rasputin
3 loved his Mycroft Homes in "The private life of Sherlcok Holmes" and
Rochefort in the "musketeers" movies

i think Mr. Lee would have been terrific as one of the conspirators (the Martin Landau part) in the X-files the movie
but then again i like so many of his movies........

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

well, the first two questions will take me alot of time to think about, but the third... One of my favorite authors is Ann McCaffery and I have always pictured Mr. Lee as Robinton, Masterharper of Pern from her Dragonriders of Pern series. THAT would be my dream... to see him in that part.

Re: Your Golden Role for CL

1. Lord Summerisle in "The Wicker Man"
2. Difficult to say, but probably his roles in all the Hammer movies I watched when I was younger. I remember "Dracula - Prince of Darkness" and "To the Devil a Daughter..." most vividly from that time.
3. Don Quixote and Merlin would both be great roles for Mr. Lee, but the role I most wish to see him in would be as Woland in an adaptation of Mikhail Bulgakov's "The Master and Margarita".
