Well! I've been a fan all these years, and I just finished watching a dvd of The Wicker Man! What a wonderful film! (Goodness, Brit doesn't wear very much does she?) Such beautifully natural acting! It's a gorgeous film! I've read much about it, but never had the opportunity to actually see a performance. I'm impressed -- I felt like I was seeing the first glimmer of CL bursting free from the type casting he struggled against so bravely in the '70s. He's lived up to the promise, and then some! Bravo! Edward Woodward did a hellava job at the climax, too! Wow! It only took 35 years to see it, too! What can I say?

I wasn't sure about near the end where the giant whicker staute was and the animals were trapped inside it when it burned.
I had to mute the sound because the animals were stressing out and it did sound like they were being burned for real. It had me in tears that bit.
He was a good dancer wasn't he, don't you think?
and the wig was pricless.
As for the naked ladies dancing....now theres something I must go and try out in Wat tyler park-if only I had the guts to do so. |

There's an interesting anecdote attached to the shooting of the fire dance: the filming took place at the Lochinch estate, home of Lord Stair. Apparently, his wife, Lady Stair, bears a striking resemblance to HM Queen Elizabeth II (she even owns corgis), so much so that when the girls saw her, they believed she really was the Queen and ran off to hide in the woods. Despite the fact that they were wearing the body stockings, they were mortified at the thought that the Queen might think that they were really naked. Anyway, there we are. Take care:
Warmest regards,
Andrés

Warmest regards,
Andrés | Sorry Andres for taking time to reply.
I been side tracked finishing my vet assistant course and other things.
Gawd, I loved to have been a fly on the wall to see that.
Any ways, it's amazing when you learn something new about his films and what happens when filming and what you let me know about this I told my mother about it while we watched the film last week. Erm, she nearly choked on her cup of tea.
thanks again
Cheryl :) x

One website about the film says that a body double did Britt Ekland's full body shots for her song to the policeman. That makes sense, I guess. The woman did look a bit zoftig, especially compared to her bikini shot in Golden Gun. They also claimed she was pregnant at the time, and didn't want to be seen in full nudity. I don't know whether that's fact or rumor. They also said her voice was dubbed, and I thought she just pulled off a darned good Scottish lilt! Boy, do I feel green! The body stockings on the fire dancers looks correct. This movie makes The Dark Secret of Harvest Home look pretty lame! ;) The acting is what really counts, when you think about it. I can hear the CLW guys bellowing "The Innkeepers Daughter" after a few down to pub now!
