"The Man Who Could Cheat Death" I just watched the new DVD of "The Man Who Could Cheat Death" from Legend Films. It is a fantastic disc. The print is very nice with some vivid color photography. I had only seen this movie once before (either on HBO or CineMax, I don't remember which), so it was nice seeing it again. Anton Diffring is quite good in the title role and the late Hazel Court is as lovely as ever. Mr. Lee is also good as Dr. Gerrard, blackmailed by Diffring to perform the operation to save his life. This is a Region 1 DVD and I believe is available only from Best Buy (along with "The Deadly Bees", "The Skull" and "The Possession of Joel Delany"). Sadly, there are NO bonus features whatsoever (not even a trailer), but it is still nice having this fine minor Hammer film on DVD at last. All fans of Mr. Lee must get this disc. (It was only $9.99, too.) |
