Christopher Lee postage stamps

A commemorative set of six postage stamps will be released in the UK in June to mark the 50th anniversary of the Carry On films and Hammer's Dracula.

Christopher Lee films feature on three of them.

You can view them here:

Classic Cinema: Carry On films and Hammer films - new British stamps - 10 June 2008 - from Norvic Philatelics.

Re: Christopher Lee postage stamps

Great stuff. I'll be adding these to my collection. Movie memorabilia that is, not stamps.
I collected stamps as a child but not since. I'll be making an exception with these.

Although I don`t collect stamps, I never did, I must say: This is a great idea! My children will travel to England in July, and they will stay for 3 weeks...enough time to get something nice for their mum.....??? LOL!

All the best,
Daniela

Re: Christopher Lee postage stamps

That's great news.

Stamps commemorating Hammer AND Carry On, 2 of my fondest memories of growing up, but thats enough of Barbara Windsor.

Thanks for the info Gerald

Great link, Gerald.

Love the stamps. As well as Hammer, I am a huge Carry On fan so this will definitely have to be an addition to my collection!

Wink Re: Christopher Lee postage stamps

Hi Everyone, I found this bit of another article that mentions Mr. Lee on next month's upcoming postage stamps.

The part of the article (at the beginning really) that I thought was brilliant is the following quote:

"........but Christopher Lee will make history next month by being among the first living non-royals to be portrayed on a British stamp....."

Congratulations Mr. Lee!

If you have the time, here is the link to the article:

Cheers,;)

Re: Christopher Lee postage stamps

Wow, that really IS an amazing article. These postage stamps were approved by the Queen! Maybe now she'll finally wake up and realise she should've given Christopher Lee a knighthood long ago.

Thanks for the link Helen!

Re: Christopher Lee postage stamps

Many thanks for the link Luzmila. I think I will have to buy these. The last time I purchased stamps was when they were commemorating British comedy actors. One of which was Peter Sellers.
