Post Flesh & Blood Hammer Documentary New Version

Producer Ted Newsom is releasing an updated version of his excellent documentary on Hammer films.
This was the last project Christopher Lee & Peter Cushing worked on together ( providing the commentary ) and is the best documentary on the rise and fall of Hammer films.

Ted had this to say on the matter.

I'm wrapping up the re-edit of my Hammer history for UK release. Included in the expanded version are interviews with Don Sharp, Dave Prowse, Aida Young, Richard Matheson, Ian MacGregor-Scott (sound editor), Terry Iliot (the new Hammer prez.), Martin Scorcese, John Carpenter and a bit more stuff with Anthony Hinds, Michael Carreras, Peter Cushing and Ingrid Pitt
-- and additional stuff, like films I didn't have room for before:
She (with location footage)
Hell is a City
The Steel Helmet
Camp on Blood Island
Never Take Sweets from a Stranger
The Damned
Men of Sherwood Forest
Dick Barton Strikes Back
Mystery of the Mary Celeste
Terror of the Tongs
The Nanny
Fanatic
Scream of Fear
On the Buses
The Gorgon
Shatter
The Lady Vanishes

Thumbs up Re: Flesh & Blood Hammer Documentary New Version

I have the original Flesh and Blood documentary. I think I will have to buy this revised version, looks to have interesting additions.
Thanks for that Matt.

Re: Flesh & Blood Hammer Documentary New Version

Thanks for the info Matt. This release looks fantastic and I will definitely be adding it to my collection.

I haven't watched it for many years now but I remember it to be the definitive Hammer documentary. It should be fascinating to see some of the interviews with people like John Carpenter and Martin Scorcese.

All this and On The Buses too!

Stuart
Even though I know I shouldn't I can't help but like On The Buses. Maybe it's because it takes me back to an age of innocence as I watched the series as a very young lad but I find myself watching it when it turns up on Sky.
Talk about guilty pleasures :o

Well I must admit to liking it too - I even have a double bill of Hammers On The Buses and Mutiny on the Buses on VHS! As you said Matt, a pure guilty pleasure...

I love this documentary. It's a great document to the legendery studio who where down to two staff members at the end. For those of you who would like the documentary while waiting for the new version it's availble at many major dvd websites like PlayUSA.com: DVDs .

Has a release date for the new version been set?.

Not yet, Ted's just finishing up some technical aspects.
He says Peter Cushings voice is much clearer on the new disc.

Re: Flesh & Blood Hammer Documentary New Version

Flesh and Blood was a very good documentary on Hammer Films and was made even better by being narrated by Christopher and Peter Cushing. This was the last time that they worked together. I have this on DVD but I am looking forward to this updated version.
