BARRY MORSE

Requiescat in Pace
(1918-2008)

Hello everyone,

[size=1]I recently learned of the very sad news that British-born Canadian actor-director, Barry Morse, died earlier this month, aged 89. In an artistic career spanning eight decades, Barry Morse was a prolific actor and director, working in radio, theatre, film, and on television in numerous productions. Barry Morse was born in Shoreditch (London, England), on 10th June, 1918, and began his acting career aged 15 when he won a full-scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA). Mr Morse

Thanks for that Andres.
I was also sad to hear of the death of this actor. As you say in your tribute, Space 1999 is the role I best remember him for, which I happened to watch a bit back after learning of his passing. I also remember him in many other productions and considered him a very good actor.

André this is so sad. He was a true gentleman at the event.
I regret I didn't buy any of his books he had for sale. But alas
I would've liked to have heard about him before the event and at least have seen a film of his and been able to have asked a question. I remember with great joy that you were so excited to meet him. He will be missed. I will have to order the book you bought. That photograph is wonderful. Make sure you hang it on the wall.

Warmest regards
Joakim

A nicely written tribute Andres which obviously comes from the heart.
I must admit, aside from Space 1999 I wasn't that aware of Barrys work. I do however love his role as the tailor who unwittingly brings Peter Cushings son back to life in Asylum.

Hello again,

One of my favourites, Matt! I actually brought this one up, and Barry Morse had fond memories of working on that film with Peter Cushing. In fact, there's a nice still from the film in Mr Morse's autobiography. The tailor character is a good example of Mr Morse demonstrating his "trademark" - his amazing ability to assume accents from all parts of the world. Here are some screen captures of Barry Morse and Peter Cushing from "The Weird Tailor" segment of Asylum:

One of the better portmanteau films from Amicus, with a very good cast and all of the different episodes based on short stories by Robert Bloch. Anyway, take care everyone:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

Sorry to hear of his passing. I am sorry to say that I am not familiar with any of his films. It is nice that you got to spend some time with him, Andres......

He sounds like a wonderful person and talented actor.
