Luzmila found a clip on YouTube which consists of an animated artwork logo together with audio of Mr Lee singing "Elenore" from the "Edgar Allan Poe - Visionen" project. If you have the time and are interested, here is the link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ly3ViHYV7-0. Many thanks to Luzmila for finding and sharing this with us. Take care everyone and all the best:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

Thank you so much for it, dear Andrès and Luzmila!
It sounds great, there is a special atmosphere when I listen to it and when I watch the clip! By the way there are many nice clips of/about Mr. Lee on Youtube! Everyone who has got the time should have a look. It is a little bit of "looking around" and searching, but you won`t regret it!

Best wishes,
Daniela

WOW that was really great, very interesting piece, I love Poe, it is actually rather easy to set him to music, as it is any great poet. Mr Lee did a wonderful job, I just loved it.

Hello again,

I am also very interested in Poe, and find his work fascinating. I totally agree with you, Kaitlin, that his poetry in particular lends itself well to musical interpretation. I suppose that poetry and music are fraternal arts, in the sense that they both draw from sound to evoke feelings, moods, or to express thoughts and ideas, etc. I think Poe's poems are especially musical, and he clearly placed great importance on the sound (the music) of his verse. If any of you are familiar with the 2004 film version of The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino as "Shylock", there is a song at the end of the film sung beautifully by Hayley Westenra, the words taken from one of Poe's poems, "Bridal Ballad" (see http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Bridal_Ballad for the text). I found it curious that they chose a poem by Poe to use in a film based on a Shakespearean play, but it does work very well. Anyway, take care everyone and all the best:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

///there is a song at the end of the play with the same thought as the Poe poem which lent it self to an easier adaptation I suspect, music was written in Shakespeares time for the songs but it has largely been lost through the years and directors are not always as lucky as Kenneth Brannagh is to have someone like Patrick Doyle do the music for his films and we also have the problem of directors taking creative license with material not always a bad thing by any means unless you go too far off the reservation, witness Troy a few years ago, not even close to the Illiad which in my humble opinion does not need any help to be adapted to the screen, but I guess we can chalk it up to what directors think people want.
