Mr. Lee, Don Quixote, and Paul Naschy?

Apparently, Spanish horror star and character actor Jacinto Molina, a.k.a. Paul Naschy, would like for Mr. Lee to play Don Quixote in a future project.
I don't know if Naschy specifically said it at the Estepona festival, which he held in Mr. Lee's honour recently, but it sounds very interesting, to say the least.

That would be way past cool, Mr Lee would be excellent in the role. Actually I would love to see him do Man Of La Mancha, It wasn't done very well the first time around. Kaitlin.

Re: Mr. Lee, Don Quixote, and Paul Naschy?

Like yourselves I also think he would make a great Don Quixote, who after all was an elderly gentleman. However, Don Quixote does fall off or is knocked off Rocinante quite a lot, and spends most of the book nursing cuts, bruises and other hurts and injuries received during his misadventures. That would require quite a lot of stunt work methinks, not least being hurled around the sails of a windmill.
Who would we favour for the part of Sancho Panza?

I think Paul Sorvino would be great in the part, he is a wonderful actor and he sings very well, Opera mostly, if they were to do the musical remake, otherwise he would be wonderful in just the straight part Kaitlin

Hello everyone,

Juan, please don't hit me for this one, but if we were to ask my mother, I know who she would nominate for the role! ;)

I always thought Alfredo Landa made a very good Sancho Panza alongside Fernando Rey, so there's one thought. It's a great pity that Roy Kinnear is no longer with us, because I can see him in the role as well. John Rhys-Davies perhaps? Anyway, take care everyone:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

However, Mr Lee does say in his autobiography that he regrets not having been able to play the part of Don Quixote, and that it is now too late.
Bob Hoskins played Sancho in the non-musical version where John Lithgow played Don Quixote. I thought Mr Hoskins played the role quite well in that version.

Hahaha, Isa! But then you wouldn't be concentrating too much on the story... You would be too busy deciding which of the two gentlemen to gaze at! Interesting choice for Sancho, though, but I suppose if anyone could do it, Johnny Depp could! Take care everyone:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

Actually, if such a thing were to become reality and I hope it does, I think Senor Naschy would make an excellent Sancho.

Yes, I mentioned Johnny because I also believe that he can make any character. Actually me leaning that Johnny is as a " disciple of Mr. Lee." After all our idol always gave the versatility example!!!

This movie, will start filming in March 2008.

I think with this and all that that is in the pipeline, every single dream that Mr. Lee had, has come true.

Juan, Thank You for sharing this information. This is wonderful news! Congratulations Mr. Lee....

I hope Mr. Lee still has a 'dream' though; one should always have a 'dream'.....
