Wink A curious cartoon I came across...

Hello everyone,

I was flicking through the TV guide earlier today when I spotted something very curious indeed. I'm sure that many of you may be familiar with the US cartoon series, "The Simpsons". Well, the TV guide that we buy has a picture inside featuring one of tomorrow's episodes on the Sky One channel. I could not help being struck by the somewhat uncanny resemblance that one of the characters bears to someone we all know and love here. Whether or not the artist had Mr Lee in mind when he or she drew this character is anyone's guess! Anyway, perhaps you would like the opportunity to judge for yourselves. Here is the picture (unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a larger-sized image):

Mr Lee "Simpsonised"?

Anyway, just a fun item I thought I'd share with you all here. This picture also reminds me of Colin's post not so long ago when he spoke about all of those things he saw associated with Mr Lee during his recent trip to Paris, and how sometimes there seems to be no getting away from our favourite actor. It looks like he may have snuck into the cartoons as well! ;) Take care everyone and God bless:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

Heh, I probably would've done because I do find "The Simpsons" hilarious, even though I haven't watched the show for a very long time. Unfortunately, I don't get Sky One, so I won't be able to see it. The only thing I managed to find out is that the episode is called "Yokel Chords", and I believe that the character is a psychiatrist, although I could well be wrong. Apparently, one of the character voices in this episode is provided by actress Meg Ryan. If I do manage to see this at some point, I'll watch to see if I can spot that character and find out what he gets up to. Anyway, in the words of Porky Pig, "that's all folks!" Take care everyone:

Warmest regards,

Andrés

I'll definitely have to check and see if I will be able to watch this episode! It does look like Mr. Lee Andres. Thanks for sharing! Sky One you say? I've never heard of that channel before. Still, I'll do my best to "discover" it. Thanks again and take care!

Talking Re: A curious cartoon I came across...

Hey everyone,

Well, I managed to get to see the episode in question, "Yokel Chords". It's one of the musical ones, with two main storylines: a) Bart invents a scary story about a murderer called Stanley and the school sends him to a psychiatrist; b) Lisa is enlisted as a tutor to teach some hillbilly kids. It's quite funny! The character I found is not a psychiatrist at all, but is, in fact, Stephen Sondheim (given Mr Lee's involvement in Sweeney Todd, how's that for yet another curious coincidence?) I was able to get a few screen captures of him from the episode in question, and here they are:

A Selection of Sondheim (from "The Simpsons" episode "Yokel Chords")

I still think the character is rather similar to Mr Lee, although I can also see the Stephen Sondheim in it, now that I know who it really is based on. Anyway, there we go. Take care everyone:

Warmest regards,

Andrés
