Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something with you that is not well known or widely publicized.
On October 6th 2006 the first USA Jules Verne Adventures Film Festival was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. Mr. George Lucas was presented with the Jules Verne Lifetime Achievement Award (the same award Mr. Lee received in March 2006 at the Paris JVA). Mr. Lucas was presented the Award by Mr. James Cameron.
Congratulations Mr. Lucas!
As part of the award ceremony the JVA had a ‘special video taped message’ that was played; this message was from Mr. Lee.
Unfortunately, the video taped message is not available on the web. However, a Friend (whom I gratefully Thank) kindly provided me with some of the content of that message and told me that Mr. Lucas was ‘very moved by Mr. Lee’s words’.
Here is part of that message:
“George... I greet you, I welcome you, I congratulate you, and I would like to say to you how much it meant to me to work with you, for you; in the two “Star Wars” films. You’ve been so helpful to me as an actor. I made mistakes: who doesn’t? But you are so patient and I never saw you upset. You were always completely calm and completely in control. Very much in control! ……
…..You had the courage to say many years ago: “I will not be controlled by the studios, I will do it myself ”. Not many people have dared to do that, not many people have tried to do it, and certainly not many people have done it. But you have. You are a great visionary…..
….. I have such admiration and respect for you……that I would like to give you a big hug if I was there and tell you again how much you mean to me. God bless.”
I thought this was a very touching tribute, and wanted to share it with you…
