Thumbs up Mr. Lee and Sword fights

Hi Everyone,

Last October (2006) I posted a thread about the photographs of Mr. Lee at the Jules Verne Aventures Festival where he had received the 'Jules Verne Lifetime Achievement Award' (March 2006).....Well I happened to be perusing those photographs again (and to see if there was anything new going on at the JVA), and I happened to find something I missed before!

At the bottom of the page (where Mr. Lee is holding a beautiful Award and a Sword), The award is due to Mr. Lee holding the World's Record for having 'Sword fights in movies'.

The Award Mr. Lee is holding was presented by the 'Académie des Armes de France' and is the "diplôme de Maîtres d’armes d’escrime artistique et de spectacle" (Roughly Translated: Academy of the Weapons of France the diploma for the occupation of Fencing masters of artistic fencing and spectacle).........

I am Sorry I didn't pay closer attention earlier....:(

Congratulations Mr. Lee

The website (so you don't have to search through the posts: if you are interested):

Cheers,;)

Re: Mr. Lee and Sword fights

Getting an Award by the Académie is a great honour and he really deserves it. I wonder if Mr. Lee got this Main Gauche as an additional gift!
(It's a very beautiful one):-))

Thank you for posting the link again!

Hello everyone,

Many thanks indeed, Helen, for posting the updated information and link relating to Mr Lee and the Jules Verne Aventures Festival. It is always lovely to see Mr Lee being recognised for his long and varied contributions to cinematic history; and after nearly losing his little finger in an unfortunate swordfighting encounter with Errol Flynn early on in his acting career, I'm sure that Mr Lee was very proud and pleased to receive the [i]diplôme de Maîtres d

Warmest regards,

He is a wonderful sword teacher.

Re: Mr. Lee and Sword fights

He's the best sword fighter in the show biz. Was Errol Flynn better at sword fighting or was Mr. Lee? Just wondering. Or were both the best?

Thanks,
Amber
