Rep Power: 0 | Hammer Studios The Elstree Years
January 27th sees the launch of Wayne Kinseys follow up to the excellent Bray Years book. It coincides with a new documetary on Hammer Vampire films which will be shown at the launch.
Some of Hammers greatest movies featuring Mr Lee were shot at Elstree so there should be plenty to interest old and new fans alike. For full details of the day follow the link below. If anyone's going come up and say hello ,I'll be there . http://www.unofficialhammerfilms.com/news/ |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Hammer Studios The Elstree Years I want in advance to give him the congratulations for your opportunity to be in the event, Matt. This book should be Great, mainly for containing all these pictures and, besides those of out of the scenes... I adore them. How much picture and comments on Mr. Lee will bring to book!
Good diversion.

Guests on the day include
John Cater, Christopher Mathews, Ingrid Pitt, Caroline Munro, Jenny Hanley, Madeline Smith,Dave Prowse, Edward De Souza, Francis Mathews, John Forbes Robertson, Janina Faye, Neil Binney, Pauline Harlow, Renee Glynne
More than half of these people worked with Mr Lee in numerous films .I'll be there with my daughter .It's almost a sell out but I'm sure tickets would be available at the door if anyone makes a last minute decision. http://www.unofficialhammerfilms.com..._kinsey_b.html

That looks like a great day, I wish I could go, but last weekend almost broke the bank, plus I've just got back from hospital, nothing serious, just involves thumb sewn back on.:thumpdown . So I will be out of order for a week or so.
Have a great day Matt. Tell us about it when you get back.
Cheers
Colin.

Sounds like it should be a great day Matt, I have the "Bray" book I just hope this will be as good. By the way I wonder if anyone can help me, I have an old transparency of Christopher Lee from the 70s , looks like it could be Elstree, possibly behind the scenes on AD72 but I just don't know.

I haven't seen that pic before but it certainly looks like a behind the scenes from either Dracula Ad 1972 or The Satanic Rites Of Dracula

My daughter and I had a great time at the event and kicking about London in general.Lots of old Hammer celebs turned up such as Edward De Souza, Dave Prowse and John Cater. Jenny Hanley was also there and she had nothing but praise for Christopher Lee's professionalism during Scars Of Dracula but, then again, what else would you expect from such a pro.
The new documentary was very good and I've just started on the book.
It looks like this will be the last event of its kind mainly because the original Hammer staff are so few on the ground now.I'm glad to have attended and met so many old friends and made some new ones.I've posted a few pics in the multimedia section.

Hello everyone,
It sounds like you had a wonderful time at this event, Matt! It's encouraging to see that Hammer films are still being celebrated and activities are organised with people who worked for Hammer still attending. I wonder if there was any talk at this event about reviving the Hammer films. This is something Georges Nahon and I discussed when we met last weekend in Heathrow. We asked ourselves who they would find to star in films nowadays, with some many of the great names sadly no longer with us, or dedicating their talents to other areas. Was anything mentioned regarding this, Matt? I'll pop over to the multimedia section now to check out your pics. They're bound to be good. Many thanks, and take care:
Warmest regards,
Andrés

Hammers resurrection is often mentioned but there have been so many false starts in the past I'll only believe it when it happens. Stranger things have happened but I won't be holding my breath. There is,however, rumour of a new TV series made in conjunction with the BBC but,as I said, there have been plenty rumours in the past.
