Rep Power: 23 | "The Wicker Man" on UK Television ITV4 Tonight!
Hello everyone,
For those of you who would like to watch The Wicker Man and are able to view the British channel ITV4, it will be shown there tonight (10:00-11.45pm, and repeated at 2.05-3.50am). I do not know which version they will be showing, but I hope it is the longer one. Happy viewing!!
Warmest regards,
Andrés

Green with Envy........Did you get a chance to watch it? Which version did they show?
I have the 88 minute version, and have toyed with trying to get the longer version:questionm ....But long or short, it is Brilliant.........
Cheers,;)

Helen | Hello everyone,
I managed to see some of it, Helen. As far as I could tell, it was the shorter version, unfortunately.
I would strongly urge you to purchase the longer version, as you will find that you miss out on a lot of interesting detail if you only know the shorter version. I don't know if you're able to play region 2 DVDs, but if you can, I would definitely recommend the following: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wicker-Man-S...UTF8&s=gateway. This edition has both the theatrical version (ie the shorter version) and the Director's Cut version (ie the longer one). Besides that, it is packed with extras, such as commentary (including Mr Lee!), a documentary, an interview, trailers, etc.
If you really want to treat yourself, you could go for this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wicker-Man-D...UTF8&s=gateway. In fact, this would be a better purchase, given that it includes TWO documentaries ("The Wicker Man Enigma" which also comes in the other collection, AND "Burnt Offering: The Cult of the Wicker Man", which doesn't). In addition to everything you get on the first collection (I think), you also get a CD with the soundtrack, if you don't already own one (or even if you do!) So I would probably go for this one, personally speaking. It is worth paying the extra. And you don't have to buy from amazon, of course. I merely used them to show you the editions I wanted to recommend. You should shop around for better prices.
Anyway, just thought I would recommend those. Any version is worth seeing, of course, but for the sake of completion and to see something much closer to the original brilliance intended by the writer and the director, et al., you really MUST view the longer version. I cannot overstress just how much you miss if you only ever see the shorter version. Take care, and happy viewing, whatever you decide:
Warmest regards,
Andrés

Helen | I felt envy also!
Then I looked at my DVD (version tans), but that has subtitles.
In the same way it is super pleasant to see Lord Summerisle again, mainly singing. The scene where he is to the piano... show!

Every time one of Mr. Lee's movies is on TV, I get excited. Even though I OWN most of them!
I own TWO copies of THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, but still keep checking the AMC online program guide to see if they're running the James Bond fest, so I can see GOLDEN GUN on TV again. WHY? I'll even rush home to see it! If it's on late, & I'm in bed, I know instinctively what time to get up & turn the TV back on to watch Scaramanga in action!
So when I saw Andres' original posting, I wished I lived in London.
Oh, Mr. Lee, what you DO to us!

Oh, Mr. Lee, what you DO to us! | *headdesks out of laughter*
Oh we all know that don't we?! *sniggers*
It's always great to see Mr. Lee perform. No matter what movie. He works hard to make his character seem like an actual person.
*bows* I worship thee!

Oh, Mr. Lee, what you DO to us![/quote] And the time is going passing and Mr. Lee doesn't stop doing " good things to be born in us", for that we Loved him.
" We loved the people for the good things that they make to sprout in us" (one of my favorite sentences) and it is perfectly framed Mr. Lee.
