I recently bought and watched Three Lee films. Never saw these before until recently. 'To The Devil A Daughter', 'Devil Rides Out', 'Rasputin: The Mad Monk'.
To The Devil A Daughter: This film left me speechless! All I could think of to say was 'Oh My God' lol I think it was brilliant, there were only a couple of let downs in my opinion, one of them, I really expected a bigger ending, something more dramatic, it seemed a little too easy of an ending to me. The other bit I didn't really fancy was the demon baby scene, I thought it was a little much, it was just ewww. But I must say the rest of it was great. What an amazing performance!
Devil Rides Out: I enjoyed this one. It was so nice to see Mr. Lee as the hero, taking on the role of a good guy. A nice change to see him that way in a horror/scary film. I liked the ending a lot, the little twist at the end, how it all ends was very good.
Rasputin: The Mad Monk: What can I say? an excellent performance! a challenging personality to portray, Lee did an excellent job of it. Loved how he danced :D
What do you all think of these movies?

I attended the three films: I can guarantee:
Rasputin - that character of the Mr. Lee is one of my GREAT PASSIONS. When I saw the list of films didn't give a lot of attention to that. But that mistake mine! I agree, he is excellent like Rasputin. It is ironic, entertaining, "bad and good", savage... and, in spite of the big beard and of presenting a type different from the habitual (very similar with Rasputin), he had a charm.
I loved everything in the film. And as that character he ate and he drank! That he acted so naturally. Note 1000! Devil Laugh Out - that I acquired after a lot of search. As Mr. Lee makes the character of the good well. He convinces and it is so agile. Very good.
To the Devil Daughter - it Also surprised me the film. Mr. Lee saved the film of all the forms. I found him/it grandiose as Priest Michael. "Unexpected" scenes. I agree that the end was very weak and he left us with the impression that was necessary Monday leaves of the film. That didn't finish!
As Mr. Lee was perfect in the scene of the birth of the he drinks of Margareth! Really that was shocking, but he held, with all his talent, the representation of somebody cruel, safe of their convictions.
Mr. Lee is a PHENOMENON. As well as I see him in all their works
I had been reading some thereabout things and I still have doubt: did they use or didn't they use a double for the scene of orgy of Priest Michael and Kinsky?
(as I said, I still didn't decipher the comments of my DVD that it is alone in English)

The nude scene in To The Devil A Daughter is a double. It was not Christopher Lee. The DVD i have has a very cool little Easter egg (hidden feature) which features the stand in guy in a little unterview about when he was asked to do that nude scene. When I first watched the movie though, I didnt know about the double so it was rather unexpected lol!
However it was not a double for the actress. I read about this.
Yes! I loved the drinking scenes in Rasputin! The dancing all that stuff was fabulous!

What a KILLJOY that stand-in is!
All kidding aside, I did see all 3 movies. From my previous posts, you guys know how much I loved RASPUTIN. But later for the dancing. The best part was when he knocked Sonia down, tore off her dress, and...(You saw the movie, Vicky. YOU know what happens next! Wasn't that YOUR favorite part, too?).
In THE DEVIL RIDES OUT, Mr. Lee was totally cool, & believable as the demonologist Richelieu. Throughout the movie, I had the utmost trust (& faith) in him.
Still, in TO THE DEVIL--A DAUGHTER, he was pure evil...and much SEXIER.
But if we go back to RASPUTIN...it's a vicious circle!

Always interesting to see how newbies (at least to these films) react. Three very different roles for Mr. Lee, but each showcases his talents in very different ways and together stand as a good example of his versatility.
I think I might have been able to predict the reaction to To the Devil a Daughter without having to give it a second thought. I've yet to read a post about the film that doesn't think the ending is weak, so no surprise there. The ghastly baby bit usually provokes a dramatic reaction too...either utter disgust or something about the puppet being well...obviously a puppet. And of course, there is always a comment on the nudity, although it usually is about Nastassia Kinski's turn, not Mr. Lee's (or more specifically Eddie Powell's), but considering this particular audience, no big shock. Me, well, I've come to quite like this oddball film. Rasputin is of course a big favorite for Mr. Lee fans, and a performance that Mr. Lee is quite proud of, if memory serves, and deservedly so since it is a very atypical part for him at that point in his career. Happily, I've just this week added a number of stills from this film to my collection.
As for The Devil Rides Out, well, this is just one of the best Hammer Films...period. Great supporting cast, based on a popular Dennis Wheatley novel, and Mr. Lee shines as the heroic Duc de Richelieu. Still wish it could be remade today with Mr. Lee in the same part. Great stuff.
Anyway, always fun to hear how folks react to a first viewing of any Christopher Lee film, but more so with these three in particular.

It was a good buy, took some time to order all these and a lot of money spent. Being a fan for quite a long time, I was rather excited to have finally found all these. I also recently watched 'Jaguar Lives' Which, i hope I dont offend anyone by saying, I didn't terribly enjoy, I thought the plot was rather weak through the entire film. But anyway, yes, all three of those are quite memorable I think.

I didn't find available until the moment for me to acquire. I remember something where Mr. Lee on a stairway with your motorcycle... as I said do many years that I saw that, but it was something linked to a sect or religion.
Now: Mr. Lee's only film that I didn't please was me JOCKS, at that time I stopped acquiring Dark Places (today I have it) to buy Jocks. Deception. to not to be to have seen a Christopher funny Lee... and that final one... in the bar, club... with that person that he admired soon when seeing and vice-versa. Hi hi hi.

You complained for not finding the films, but now you are already with luck.
