There is an interesting article that has just come out, on "The Best Bond of them All". The article refers to Mr. Lee attending the festival where TMWTGG is screening, and commenting that although Pierce Brosnan was the best and the closest to the character that Ian Fleming had written, that people should hold off commenting on the new Bond, Daniel Craig, until after the film had come out....
Makes sense.....
Will be watching the festival for any pictures or other articles that turn up on Mr. Lee, and will post as soon as I find them....
For this recent article, the link is: http://www.smh.com.au/news/film/the-...283998325.html
Here is another article from the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/default.stm
This article has been found at other sources also....not listing them all though....
Cheers,
Helen

Helen | I've been looking at all the internet hoopla over Craig as Bond. Christopher is right: wait until we see the film to judge Craig's acting. Having said that....ahem....I really don't like the idea of Craig as Bond, and am very disappointed that Pierce Brosnan was dropped for no acceptable reason (age?, give me a break...the franchise needs a lift?, try good writing.)
I assume that the powers that be are gearing their film to a younger audience that likes more violent film content, not an older female audience that likes classy romantic spy adventures, which leaves me slightly out of the loop, ha!
I was terribly sorry to read today, though, that Craig had been hit in the mouth during a stunt gone wrong and lost his two front teeth, and that he's having a terrible time with the stick shift on the Aston Martin. On top of that, he's getting a lot of grief for being blond! Ah, gee, give him a chance! I'm just an old Sean Connery/Pierce Brosnan fan; I'm prejudiced.
I hope I'm wrong about Craig, and that he turns out to be fantastic in the role. I'll wait to rent the DVD, though...I don't have $14 to spend "finding out" if he suits. I save that money for Christopher Lee DVDs which are a guaranteed pleasure.

Hello everyone,
Here is a link to another article which contains an interview with Mr Lee, which he gave during the Bangkok International Film Festival >>> http://www.manager.co.th/IHT/ViewNew...=9490000024398. I am indebted to member Luzmila Frisancho, who originally posted a link to this page in the Spanish forum section (see Bangkok Fiesta de la Película Internacional.)
The page has a very nice photograph of Mr Lee, and the interview includes many very interesting observations. Especially relevant to one of the main subjects of this thread, that of the choice for the "new James Bond" (the actor Daniel Craig,) the following is attributed to Mr Lee: "I don

Ok, I was dead wrong in my original assessment. I think Daniel Craig would make an excellent Bond. I saw him in "Layer Cake" and "Moll Flanders" on DVD and he was wonderful in both, with personality traits of Bond in each film. Blonde, shmond, who cares what the hair color is. Christopher's right, wait and see. Also, Pierce can move on to some other roles ("The Matador" is hysterical.) so if he's happy now with the situation, fine; it could have been handled a lot better but that's water under the bridge now.

I think Craig will be alright - I hope he's given time to develop. If you can, Pam, try to get your hands on a copy of a BBC drama called 'Our Friends in the North' it was on UKTV about 10 years ago I think, and he was excellent in it (as was everyone actually, a great cast). That's probably a bit off point for this forum, but hey-ho..

Benjamin, I will watch for "Our Friends in the North" to come out in the US, but alas for now, it's a Region 2 DVD UK only, not out for us colonials. It looks very good (saw details and photos on Daniel Craig's fan website).
Ha, off topic, yes, I know, but the conversation did start with Christopher saying we should give Craig a chance as Bond. When talking to Christopher, I've taped our conversations on my "Dear Mr. Lee" audio tapes, and the general discussion can start out with the subject of Peter Cushing's acting and end up on the subject of hot dogs. Christopher is king of the seemingly non-sequitur (ok, he wouldn't see it that way) segue. I think he'll forgive us for going from Bangkok to Bond.

There is an article that (though embellished with extra bits), gives some information as to what Mr. Lee spoke about during his hour of an "In Conversation With" during the Bangkok Film Festival.
If you are interested, the article may be found at: http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/show/st...103365,00.html
Cheers, ;)

The latest article of an interview with Mr. Lee during the Bangkok Film Festival is currently available from the Bangkok Post Outlook. A nice article with Mr. Lee comparing Bangkok today and 32 years ago, on his last visit. Also some of his views on his portrayal of Rasputin, comments on the Wickerman, and his thoughts on his career and Asian Cinema. Overall a very nice and interesting article. Also a nice picture of Mr. Lee from the Festival....
If You are interested the article can be found at: http://www.bangkokpost.com/Outlook/29Mar2006_out001.php
Cheers,
Helen

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Bangkok International Film Festival Mr. Lee is very right in thinking that should see the man's work before judging him/it. As it can be in the hair color the actor's quality.
I liked to know that Mr. Lee considers Deep a great actor. I sympathized with this actor when I saw him/it for the first time in " Of the hell." I found whenever he had something to compare with Mr. Lee (a form in the expression of the glance, moving of the brows or a way of pressing the lips), I thought until that he went nephew of Mr. Lee. But I also find that he is a pleasant actor of being seen.
Mr. Lee's picture with Mrs. Lee is of an enviable elegance.
