CNN has just reported that the Associated Press had announced the death of actor, Gregory Peck, at the age of 87. I'm so sorry to hear of his parting, and know that he was a favorite of Mr. Lee.

Yes, I just read this too...quite a shock...
He was always one of my favorites. An excellent actor and, from what I've always read, quite a good fellow.
goodbye Atticus....

Oh no, not another of the 'greats' gone. I suppose that Charlton Heston is likely the last of that 'star' level of American actors still with us, and he's some 8 years younger than Peck (and about two years younger than Mr. Lee...if the IMDB is to be believed). Some folks you simply think of as always being there, and I suppose that in recent years I thought of Gregory Peck in that manner. He certainly will be well remembered for contributions to American cinema.
His role as Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird will likely be the most well respected of his many performances...and with good reason too, yet, I think that I personally will never forget his performance as Captain Ahab in the 1956 film Moby Dick. Peck's characterization of the old sea dog was a study in 'obsession'...an almost frightening performance in intensity. Of course I also have a fondness for his work in The Omen, The Guns of Navarone, The Boys From Brazil, and the under-rated Sea Wolves. Hell, as a kid I practically thought that General Douglas MacArthur was Gregory Peck...funny how a film role can become so entrenched in the mind, even more so when I realize that I've never even seen his performance in MacArthur. Strange that, but it says a great deal about the effectiveness of the Hollywood marketing machine, but I digress...
As for films with both Christopher Lee and Gregory Peck, I can think of nothing else besides the 1951 version of Captain Horatio Hornblower.

Gregory Peck was surely one of the best. My dad actually met him when he came to Massachusetts many years ago. He will never forget him and said he had such a commanding yet not arrogant prescence. I loved his voice! We'll miss him!

My Mother loved him, she was as crazy about Gregory Peck as I am about Mr. Lee, and she would make sure I would watch his movies when they came on, I got to like him over the years. I broke the news to my Mother last night and she was distaught. It is sad when any body dies, but especially so when someone who you have come to admire and respect over the years passes on.
The one scene which will stick in my mind for the rest of my life is in Roman Holiday when he sticks his hand in that mouth and pulls his handless arm back out, to Audrey Hepburn's horror, classic stuff.
Greatly missed.

That's very sad news... I'm afraid I've only really seen him as Atticus Finch, but I thought that he was wonderful in that role, and was just like the character I imagined Atticus to be when my class read 'To Kill a Mockingbird' for our GCSE English Literature paper a couple of years ago.

Gregory Peck was one of my all-time favourites, too. I also have many films with Mr. Peck. One of the most recent I viewed was "Mirage".
I've read quite a bit about him, and he was as much a gentleman on the set as he was on it. He certainly is another legend among stars. One film I have yet to see is "To Kill a Mockingbird", one which Mr. Peck is most famous for. It's on my list now, for sure.

Hi all!
I too was saddened to hear that Mr. Peck had died. He was one of my favorite actors. I felt that I wanted to contribute with something to honor his memory, so I created a website about him. Here“s the link if anyone wants to check it out: http://groups.msn.com/GregoryPeckShrine/homepage

i don't think that he did a movie with Mr. Lee but did anyone hear that Hume Cryon died? i know i spelled his last name wrong. but oh well. he was 91 i believe he died of cancer i think yahoo news said. ya know it's amazing he lived that long with cancer i wonder how many years he did indeed have it? i only mention it cuz with Gregory peck dying suddenly this past week an all. i didn't make it a new thread cuz i wasn't sure if he did a movie with C. Lee or not. an if he didn't on reason for a thread am i right? well anywys i wonder who's gnna be next? all these great actors an actresses suddenly dying it's a shame that all we are losing parts of old hollywood which is what i acutally prefer rather than 2 days actors an actresses. well i've rambled on long enough sorry about that. i get carriend away sometimes.
