Hey all! I don't usually come to this forum, but here goes:

For some reason, I've just had the urge to watch a few movies with Vincent Price in - it has come to me that I haven't actually seen him in hardly anything, except Edward Scissorhands, and I have fond childhood memories of hearing his voice as Professor Ratigan in the Disney Basil the Great Mouse Detective film, but that's it!

Fortunately, coinciding with this 'urge', I've found that House of Wax and Masque of the Red Death are both on next week, and both have got pretty good reviews in my mum's TV guide, but I just wondered if anyone else here, more in the know, could recommend me a few other films to try and see?

I guess I just want to educate myself a bit more in these fine actors. :)

here's some good ones too. everyone seems to forget THE PIT AND THE PENDULAN from 1961. The Fly from 1958. an the sequel isn't that bad either. look him up at internet movie data base for a list of his films. i'm guesing he did about 200 or so films. although i can't be sure of that. so don't qoute me on that.

Hey Jurious,

You should see House of Wax, that's a really good movie. Another movie you should try watching is the Pit and the Pendulum, that's another good Vincent Price movie.

The Witchfynder General and The Fly are my favorites from the ones i've seen with Mr Price.

Ala, they have allready been mentioned.
Also reccomended imo are the Dr Phibes movies.
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
Dr Phibes Will Rise Again. (Peter Cushing has a small role in this one)

:)

Vincent was excellent in comic roles - A COMEDY OF TERRORS, THE RAVEN, TALES OF TERROR spring to mind. I recently saw the DVD of CHAMPAGNE FOR CAESAR - a great film.

One of his best comic roles must be that of Egghead in BATMAN - his teaming with Anne Baxter as Olga was hilarious

yea i saw that one too. it is indeed one of his better films a CLASSIC! it's hard to believe that of all these horror movies he did in that era he still was an unknown to the american public according to his daughters book. an it wasn't untill the Poe pictures that he became the cult figure he is today.

What? Discussing the best of Vincent Price and no one mentions The Ten Commandments? Surely you jest!

Mr. Price's appearance in the best epic of all time certainly merits mention. If you haven't seen it because you think you might be turned off by the religious aspects, forget about it. Considering that this is termed a 'biblical epic', religion is secondary and spectacle is everything. Incredible matte paintings, huge sets, great special effects and a cast of literally thousands, this is one brilliant piece of film that defines the term 'epic'. It just doesn't get any bigger or better than this, and Vincent Price as the devious Baka is smack-dab in the middle of this Cecil B. DeMille classic! Dare I say it? VP's scenes with Edward G. Robinson are...Priceless!

Cheers!
