Does anyone miss Gandalf's hat?

I really, really liked that hat...

I know this is a stupid thread... but I noticed I really do miss it, it looked so wizardy and pretty :(

Yea I noticed his hat was gone to. And his hair was nicely brushed. I miss that messy look.

Actually the hat is only part of what I miss. I really have a greater affection for Gandalf as the Grey. He was more human like thus and Sir Ian portayed that beautifully down to the dirty fingernails and hair. I was particularily disappointed Sir Ian didn't win the Oscar last year for Best Sup. Actor because I really felt that he had his best shot to win as the Grey. As Gandalf the White he is more wizardly, harder to relate to. His power is more obvious and he is not quite as warm. Don't get me wrong, I still love Gandalf (both in book and movie) no matter what color but he's more interesting as the more vulnerable Grey.

I agree that Gandalf the Grey is more likeable. It's always easier to like someone that isn't perfect and as the Grey he had some human flaws. As the White he is almost perfect. His power has grown, his body is stronger and his mind has become sharper and thus the flaws are gone. It's feels wrong to say that the Grey is more interresting than the White since the latter is interresting too but the best characters have flaws. :)

In theory, his hat should still be in Balin's tomb, unless one of the Moria Orcs or goblins ran off with it.

Maybe he should go back and get it.

He should, yes... of course I miss the old Gandalf, I posted what I feel about his change in the thread "the change in Gandalf". Gandalf has been my favourite character since ever I can remember and it is indeed very true that Gandalf the White lacks the familiarity and the down to earthish friendliness and humour of Gandalf the Grey, that among many things. Gandalf the White is of course no less a great character than his.. former form, but I must say that overall, I prefer the character of Gandalf the Grey and I really miss him.. the hat is a strong symbol, if it's understandable like that.

PS I actually preferred his old staff ;)
