Can you guys even beileve that AOTC got nominated for the Golden Razzie worst film of 2002 this time around?
Makes me really mad...normally I don't pay any attention to those things, but this one I think is not a good call. I mean putting this movie in the same category as Madonna's "Swept Away" is just wrong.

I think that, in the end, we have to kill our televisions, and completely ignore the popular media. Really. Most of the opinion mongers are one-dimensional thinkers who want to clone The Matrix over and over and over.
Why, I have no idea.
I for one WANT to see George Lucas' vision of what Star Wars is, not Timothy Zahn's or Peter Jackson's or anyone elses. Just GL's. Featuring Christopher Lee as Count Dooku, of course.

Unfortunately, I don't think the Razzie noms were entirely unjustified, though I'm equally sure it won't take Worst Picture what with Swept Away and Crossroads in there.
As much as I enjoyed Mr. Lee's performance (and Samuel L. Jackson's), the best thing I could say about Ep II was that it was better than Ep I, which is sort of like saying it was better than Star Trek V.

If you're talkin Star Trek, I think the worst instalment has to be Insurrection. Not even Data saved that one. (My favourite is pretty well Generations, although I'm still very upset that they did Captain Kirk in.) Perhaps Mr. Lee might be perfect in some role for the next Star Trek feature film.

You know, so many bad things are said about Star Wars that I just don't listen any more... Everyone to their own.
I love AotC, but, like GL once said (concerning SW overall), the next 2 or 3 people may either hate it or just not care about it. That's life. It's popular, and it suffers because of it.

It's funny, but I find myself loving AOTC more and more with every viewing, and becoming more and more mystified and angered over this bizarre backlash of criticism that currently plagues the Star Wars universe. It's become fashionable, somehow, to bash George Lucas and his creation, and it's wrong.
AOTC is a wonderful film...not perfect by any means, but a grand piece of entertainment nonetheless. I've seen it now at least 20 times, and it gets better every time.
To HELL with the Razzies!

Hail Dave! :D You put across my view perfectly!
I think you've seen the film more than me! :) LOL - I do sometimes just watch my favourite scenes, though... I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched Dooku and Kenobi's little chat in the prison cell... a most intriguing scene.
I also know AotC isn't flawless - no film is - but it's great fun!

comparing the new prequel trilogy to the original classic trilogy. I think people wanted more of the same, to be honest. And not only has Mr. Lucas grown and changed as a person over the years, he also has learned a great deal as a filmmaker, and the technology and the medium has grown and changed. For him to do the same thing AGAIN would be denying his own growth. People expect the most ridiculous, self- denying things in the name of popularity chasing. It's absurd.
Certainly all the SW films have their problems as films. However, that can be said about ANY film. I'm sure Mr. Lee could sit anyone down and discuss this area at a great length, what with his extensive experience acting in the medium. But, I think when people simply want to see "more of the same" over and over again, it reminds me of adolescents who play the same CD over and over again...what's the point? What is it you want to recapture? The past is gone and we need to continue to grow, and to mature. I think actors, directors, and writers are no different than anyone else, wanting to do new things, and stretch their horizonss.
I say, go GL! What will be TRULY interesting is what GL does once he's finished with the SW saga.

Believe me, I wouldn't've wanted to see more of the same, but I find that the newer films (and, heck, even the older ones on re-viewing) just don't draw me in like they used to.
The only example I can give of what I'm talking about was when I saw Spider-Man. There's a great little moment where Norman Osborne's been invited to have Thanksgiving dinner with Peter and his aunt May, and before saying grace he starts to reach for some food, only to get a light slap on the hand from May saying 'Oh, Mr. Osborne! Don't be greedy!' She means it in a silly way, but he gives her this *look*....
And I found myself thinking 'Oh jeez, Osborne's gonna kill her-- murder her right in front of everyone.'
I wasn't thinking about the film, or about Willem Dafoe and Rosemary Harris' performances (though I would comment on them after the film), but just the characters themselves.
I did that for the first Star Wars film-- admittedly, I was maybe 6 or 7, but it's been a long time since a film could catch me that thoroughly.
And the new ones just don't do it. I find many of the characters either a bit vapid or downright irritating, and even with people I like it's the *people* I like-- I'm saying 'Wow, Christopher Lee and Samuel L. Jackson are fun to watch' but am never drawn in to wondering about Count Dooku or Mace Windu.
Visuals are great, but in terms of scripts, I think George hasn't matured but only grown prematurely senile. And it's a shame. Maybe if he got a co-writer and co-director for the next film-- it sure didn't hurt Empire Strikes Back!

That website is shit anyways. Who cares what a bunch of twats think anyways. I've never heard of those awards. Probably someone like Brandi made them.
It just had to be Brandi again bashing the PT. SW has always had the same script format so your talking rubbish again.

Not to be prudish or anything, but as a mother and knowing that younger people enjoying visiting here, perhaps we shouldn't use swear words either....Nothing personal though. I just try not to use bad language in front of my child.

I have no problem with people posting opinions, that's all fine, but I do have a problem when swear words are used. There is enough vocabulary in the English language to adequately describe your views without resorting to off-color language.

Actually, I was hoping my comments here would bring up some intelligent arguments.
I should quit being such an optimist.

I totally disagree that AOTC was the worst film. There are plenty of other films last year, that should have been nominated the for Razzies instead of AOTC. I saw AOTC in theaters last year and I thought that movie ROCKED!
