has anyone seen the Vincent Price thriller Madhouse from 1974?
i just got done watching it i taped it off tv about a month or 2 ago. it was great i think one of his last great films. not counting Edward Scissorhands. but his last great film he did in the 1970's.
now i haven't seen many of his films from the 70's but it was 50 times better than IT'S NOT THE SIZE THAT COUNTS which was so bad he had to have been DESPERATE for work. but as for Madhouse can anyone explain the ending to me? i loved it but got confused by it. vincent price's character came through the screen an was he dead or alive?

Regarding the ending...hmmm...been awhile, wait a tick while I pop it in the VCR...
Okay, let's see here...right, well, sure, he was alive...Peter blinked, rubbed his eyes, and the next thing he knew Price was actually there, in front of him, accusing him of murder. This is such a stylish film! Haven't watched it in quite awhile. Guess I'm not going to bed just yet!
"The babies wouldn't go near him when he was alive..."
Creepy!!! :D

somtimes i forget where to post that's all i don't creat that many posts as some of you do. but anyways i agree it is one of the last
great under apperiated films at least i think it is am i wrong on that? Theatre of death was and is a Classic also. i wish they would releast Madhouse on dvd somtime soon. Peter Cushing as always is brilliant in it. well what scenes he is in it though. and i like the twist at the end too.

Rep Power: 0 | Great stuff, yes...now of course I'm watching it from the start! This film has one of the finest casts ever...Peter Cushing, Vincent Price, Robert Quarry and Linda Hayden...wonderful. The only film that comes to mind with an even better ensemble is House of the Long Shadows...ever see that?
Oh, and of course there's Scream and Scream Again. Somewhat forgettable as a film, although.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...want something that's tough to find? eBay, my friend!
I bought my previously-viewed copy of Long Shadows on eBay about a year ago for only twenty bucks. I actually bought two, giving one to a friend.
I've found literally dozens of rare, out-of-print films on eBay. I haven't the patience to wait for the DVDs. I believe Long Shadows is actually due out later this year...anyone know for sure? Seems I recall someone posting that news a ways back.

Yes e-bay is a great place to pick up rare video, I get a lot there, thats if I can't find them some where else, they go for a very good price, people just sell lots of video and if you look in they list you may be luck to find what your looking for.
And even better if you know the name of the film you looking for, some people put the name of the main person down when selling if they put Christopher Lee the price can rise, but I have got many from their for £2.00 or less. I just got both Musketeers films for £3.00 because they only named Oliver Reed. :D
So I say look at e-bay you never know.

Certainly, Matt, Theatre of Blood is the best of Price's 70's thrillers...what I meant, particularly, is that Madhouse was the last of the great Amicus films. Following that we were treated to The Beast Must Die, dreck by and large, and from there...well, The Land that Time Forgot, anyone?

House of the Long Shadows is a super film, have it on home-taped video as well. The last film I believe in which all three great horror legends, Cushing, Price and Mr. Lee starred in together. Talk about a surprise ending! (The song Pace was a little grilling on the ears, though....)

theatre of blodd is a classic i agree. mad house would have been even better if John Carradine and C.Lee were in it. anyway
both those movies are great an also the Dr.Phibes movies. those are great too.

Theatre of Blood, Madhouse, Witchfinder General, Dr.Phibes ,
All good films I like them all, I also like the Back Cat, The Raven,
The House of Usher, Tthe Tales of Terror and many more.
Peter Lorre did a lot of films with Vincent Price, that was another good team.
Like Lee/Cushing it was Price/Lorre.
I liked Mr. Lorre with his big eyes and little voice, he nearly always played Mr. Price's side kick.
