Lately folks have been posting lots of threads pertaining to auctions they found; perhaps a board for them would be a good place to organize things...
[P.S. The weird spontaneous line-wrapping seems to have gone away. Any idea what might have been causing it?]

probably not. Remember the "marketplace" or whatever it was called? It died for lack of interest.

I think a discussion area where we could post links to auctions isn't a bad idea. At least twice a week links to ebay items are on these forums. It may be good to have a separate area for those topics.
Personally, I wish the collector's exchange had worked out. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to sell a couple of CL-related items (ahem, She lobby card).

You say that there was a exchange part on this site, and it never worked.
Do anyone know why?

Well, the best place to sell is -- and will always be -- eBay.
I've never failed to sell anything I've posted there.

The marketplace (which I don't remember at all!) sounds more like it was for trades between users of these boards. What I was suggesting was a catch-all board for those posts of eBay URLs, including (or perhaps especially) the 'Is it a forgery?' ones...

Could work. Ask Admin.

Mind you Admin has his hands full as it is, with out checking e-bay every day, so it may be of help to Admin, and to us.
What do you say Admin?

The Collector's Exchange on this site was for trading and selling, I believe. Yes, there were people who posted items on it. No, it wasn't just me and that pesky She lobby card. Someone else unloaded a video or two and Admin posted a couple of offers for trades. I think that there was either a lack of general interest or most people simply did not know that it existed.

Mostly got offerers through e-mail. Don't know about anyone else but I exchanged about 60 autographs for posters and lobby cards. I also got two videos which were quite hard to find in NTSC format as well as old magazines and even a Hammer comic. Hell, I even got a poster signed by Samuel L Jackson. One week, I got spammed by star wars fans wanting Dooku autographs, as you can imagine I now have a complete figure collection as well as an original Star Wars poster. The most important thing for me, is that I made many contacts. I also had some CL posters restored in exchange for autographs. For me it worked well, because I have arguably unlimited supplies. I also nearly got myself a Golden Gun Replica but lost contact.
That LOTR card I had is still with me, never had to give away. What I did was, cleaned the signature out with nail polish remover and had Mr Lee sign it in real gold. I now have it in a small silver frame Christina brought from Montecarlo.
The reason I don't have it up again, is that when I made changes to the site I forgot about coding for the collectors exchange and I didn't have the time to do it. Ask Admin. | I don't see any point going through posts about Bay, when all it takes is a search at that site. IMO they are just a waste of effort and it only clutters the forums. Soon we'll see someone copying and pasting aucions day and night, it would be more like an Ebay mirror than a discussion forum. It's easier to enter "Christopher Lee" and read the auction titles there, than open posts and click links that will take you to the same information here. What purpose does it have other than "Look at this, it's nice or ugly"?
As for having an auction section, you are better off having your items on Ebay. It will have more exposure, you'll get a higher price and if you meet someone dodgy you don't bring your arguments of have your reputation destroyed here.

Well, maybe the easiest thing to do for people who want to post ebay links on CLW is to just have a single thread. Call it "found on ebay" or whatever. Instead of having fifteen little threads for different items, we could have just one and continue to post under it. Each time someone finds something they want to share they can post the link. That would keep the number of auction threads down and only those interested would read it (instead of having rather ambiguously titled threads which can be confusing).
