It doesn't look like CL is attending any of these premieres. Any reason why?

Well, i just got home, earlier than i expected, from seeing Fellowship and TTT.
And in short: TTT was terrible.
Just kidding. :D
I loved it.
Was it as good as Fellowship ??
That's hard to say. First impression is that it wasn't.
In Fellowship everything was new (look and feel of the movie) and this time in a way you know what too expect, so the surprise factor is gone a bit.
There wasn't that many impressive sets either compared to Fellowhip. Mines Of Moria, The Shire, Rivendell etc.
Lot's of scenes played in the open field.
The end of the movie was very impressive. Excellent battle sequence and it looked great. :)
I won't say anything about the story, you have to see it for yourself, unless you read the books, which i haven't.
Than you know what to expect i guess.
A friend of mine who did read the books said the story wasn't as true to the book as Fellowship, but loved the movie anyway.
Mr Lee doesn't have that much screen time as mentioned earlier in an other thread. It's more than 3 minutes though. :)
If you didn't liked the first movie, the 2nd installment won't win you over.
Great storytelling, great acting, great visual effects, great everything.
If you loved the Fellowship like i did....go out and see it.
Btw, Gollum for president. a great charachter. :1roll:

Glad you've enjoyed Jacob. Quote: | It doesn't look like CL is attending any of these premieres. Any reason why? | He attended the Paris and Denmark Premieres, he can only be in one place at the same time.

The 9AM show here in Boston. Just as with last year, first time round I find myself comparing it to the book. Tomorrow I'll sit back and take it in once again.
But Juan makes a good point from his viewing at the premiere. Mr. Lee's role is cut back (partly because 1/3 of both books four and five that make up TT have been punted into the next film.
Having said that, that's my biggest and only complaint.
Jackson does some surprising and nice things with Mr. Lee--for example, when Gandalf first appears, having him speak in Mr. Lee's voice, so that at first you are not sure whether it is Gandalf or Saruman.
The other nice touch I won't spoil for you.
The winged Nazgul are awesome. But damnit, I wish the Orcs got to speak some more. Some great exchanges from the book are lost here in all the action.
Okay, that's all I'm going to say, I promise. See it.
See it again.
Best,
John F

Well, saw it just tonight. Getting to see it was an adventure in itself. Had to change Cinemas when the first one was technically terrible. I don't pay good money to see something like this in mono and have manager tell me it sounds fine :/. Fortunately, the other one in town still had seats. Barely. Spent the film almost being squashed, as seem to have this habit of attracting people who take up enormous space. Talk about feeling like a hobbit.
I liked TTT a lot. It's abit colder then Fellowship. But, so was the book. Loved both Gollum and Treebeard. A lot of the ladies kept going aww and eww depending on Gollum's mood. And Treebeard got some good natured laughs with everyone surprised at what the Ents could really do :).
Some rather interesting changes were made, but it made sense for the film. It does seem that a lot was cut out for time, including some of Mr. Lee's lines that were in an earlier trailer, so I'm looking forward to the extended dvd next year. I can say more, but I need to see it again, as the experience was quite extraordinary.
And Mr. Lee looked positively insane towards the end. Those last shots of him were great.

Well i saw it!!
I had a wonderful evening, i was amazed at what i saw on the screen, it is different from the first one of course, but it is also a masterpiece , no doubt about it.
The new characters (especially Gollum) are captivating, the humor is well placed in certain scenes, and it is visually an incredible achievement.
I will go back to see it during the holidays for sure, and like i have read somewhere, if "The return of the king" comes out next year with the same degree of excellence, then nothing will be close to matching such a masterful trilogy of films.
The people in the cinema were cheering , applauding ,laughing etc... .
It really shows that a great percentage of all the people invloved in the making of the trilogy, are all fans of Tolkien,
Sylvain

Just came home from the cinema. This film was overwelming and just in one word: masterpiece. Mr Lee was and still is wonderful as Saruman.

Sauruman has this great narration a few minutes into the film and him talking to an army of 10.000 was also very cool !!!!!
