I don't know how many people here buy the SW Factfile (a weekly SW magazine in the UK, perhaps available elsewhere), but it basically, week-by-week, profiles factors of the SW saga, from main events, through characters, planets, droids, technology and weapons to transports. The other week, it profiled our Count Dooku. The content wasn't overly juicy, but I've scanned and copied the first few paragraphs below.
I'll get some more done soon if anyone is interested.

[i]ENIGMATIC AND POWERFUL, COUNT DOOKU WAS A DANGEROUS AND MYSTERIOUS FIGURE ABOUT WHOM EVEN HIS OWN ALLIES KNEW LITTLE

Hi Jurious,
Thank you for posting that bit of info...I would be most interested to see more of it and the photo as well :-)
Sounds like a really cool thing to be subscribed to. Is it an emailed thing or do you get it in the post?

More, Jurious, MORE!
That's fabulous! I've already saved what youv'e already posted, for my fanfic.
Yes, I'm STILL writing it. Just still not quite sure how I want to go about ending the thing. I hate hackneyed, overdone endings that EVERYONE thinks of, or that are WAY too predictable. But, on the other hand, I AM a writer of Star Wars soap opera at heart, to some degree as well, with a slight erotic touch (you know who you are - Are you reading this? Yes, you would like my stories!)

Oh, it is a good fanfic... ;) Haven't read it for some time, mind you - have you got any further, Arlyss?
Anyway, the article is from a weekly magazine called Star Wars Factfile- people in the UK can either subscribe via post, or order it from a newsagents. It's £1.99 a week, but the info is often in depth, and the illustrations are good - well worth it if you're a fan!
I'll try and get the rest of the article up, and scan some of the pics soon.

OK, will have more info soon. First, a few other lil tit-bits of interesting info supplied through various parts of the factfile:
[list][*]Dooku himself was once held captive in the Stalagasin Hive in which Kenobi was imprisoned, and said to have remained just as strong under the torturous forcefield that surrounded him and pentrated his body with electrical surges...[*]Jocasta Nu, the Archive librarian, considered Dooku one of the greatest Jedi she had ever met. His golden bust in the Jedi Archives was her favourite; she remarked to Kenobi as he looked upon the bust about his 'powerful eyes'.[*]Obi-Wan Kenobi considered Qui-Gon Jinn and Dooku very similar in nature, but thought that, whereas Jinn could draw a line in discussions and debates, Dooku was relentless and incorrigible, and 'an exhausting individual'...[list]
Interesting, no...?
Here's the set-out of page one of the Dooku factfile, the text of which is above. Notice the two lightsabres at the bottom...?:

Intriguing article and nice picture. Pity that magaizine isn't available in the States.

Thanks Jurious for this! Love the extra background and factoids revealed here. It rounds out the character a bit more and lets us know what his relationships were like previous to going over to the Dark Side. More please!:)

...the bees' knees! The Cat's Whiskers!
In other words, you're fantastic for continuing to put this up! I for one truly appreciate it! Nice stuff. I also wish they published the fact file in the U.S. We never get the quality stuff here. :(

Does this seem to imply that Obi-Wan had come into contact with Dooku before? Perhaps Obi was just drawing this conclusion from things he had heard about Dooku? It seemed pretty obvious, in the hive, that Dooku and Obi had not met before..but this thing in the bio-file almost sounds like they have...

RogueJedi,
The reason why the article may not fit with the movies is the following. There is Star Wars canon and Star Wars non canon. Canon is everything that happens in the films or written by George Lucas. Everything else i.e. books, magazines etc written by authors are non canon. All non canon can be considered as an Alternate Universe from the Star Wars films.
This is the best theory fans can come up with, as some of the books completely contradict the films, especially from the old trilogy. I think there may have been an article on www.starwars.com relating to the canon debate a while ago.

Count Orlok, that debate has gone on forever.
It's indeed true that an article was published on sw.com. In fact, George Lucas himself made a statement about why the books, etc. don't match up with the movies.
He basically says that the novels and comics and games and other stuff constitute a "parallel universe" to the movies, and are not necessarily congruient with them all the time. Makes sense to me. :vader:

Hey RogueJedi! :D
Just wanted to reply to your query myself:
I don't think Dooku and Kenobi ever did meet before, or, if they did, it would have been brief, and I guess when Kenobi would have been very young. I think Master Dooku had quite a reputation in the circles of the Jedi, and when one comes to know a person's reputation, as Kenobi inevitably would have, I think that one sometimes believes that they know the person - if you catch my drift.
Plus, with Kenobi's master having been Qui-Gon Jinn (i.e. Dooku's former Padawan) then I'm confident that Kenobi would have heard plenty about this certain charismatic Jedi. Dooku did many a thing that took him 'out of step' with the Jedi Council, something that Jinn clearly somewhat inherited from his Master, and showed in Phantom Menace, but Jinn probably was never quite as out-of-step as his Master often was.
And I guess that we have to remember that Dooku technically didn't leave the Order until after the Battle of Naboo - that leaves about two decades of Kenobi's life where he and Dooku were both members of the Jedi Order.
Anyway, I think my quizzes' times are up - I'll post some more of the factfile article soon.
And, on a side note, don't anyone think that you have to take the Expanded Universe ('EU'), or any material about SW characters that hasn't come from the film, to heart. If I read something from the EU that I don't like, or don't think would happen, or what-not, then I just ignore it. :) The EU is more like published fan-fiction to me, and anyone can ignore fanfiction if they want. For me, the only 'real' Star Wars is the films - the rest is just spin-off stuff that never is quite as good. But that's just me.
