Although these have been around for over a week, as they start to settle down, we'll start to see some constructive citism as oposed to very good, excellent, brilliant, thank you. No doubt that the film is very good but how good?

"Aside from the offerings of Lee and McKellen, no other performances come close to out dueling an array of visual effects that do most of Jackson's talking for him"

Here is one review which does not go on to praise the film in a blind fashion.

This is one of the most superficial reviews I read in a long time. The guy does not even get his facts right.

"Jackson is painstakingly (!!!!) faithful to Tolkien's book " ---

Very other review says Jackson took a lot of liberties ....

"Other sci-fi sequels -- such as "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Aliens" -- avoided such pitfalls, helping establish their status as true, stand-alone classics of the genre."

- The Two Towers was never supposed to stand-alone. It is Act 2 in a 3 Act play. I mean having no "Previously on LOTRs" introduction and jumping right into the action requires the audience to watch it in connection with Fellowship.

"If plot contrivances like talking plants do nothing for you, then consider skipping "The Two Towers." "

- Treebeard is only in the movie for a few minutes (Book fans complainted about that). In this review it sounds like we get a hour with Treebeard......

I could go on and on.
It is ok to critize TTT , but the reviewer should have better arguments and he should do a better research.

I saw the film tonight. Treebeard had more screentime than Saruman or Gandalf, it may not have been an hour but it seemed like it. Mr Lee was in it for about 3 minutes and didn't get a chance to perform. I'll let you watch it and make your own minds but personally, I was disillusioned. I was under the impression that Saruman was prominent in this film, he had a cameo so I presume most of his sceenes were cut.

I am OUTRAGED. Saruman's screen time was kept to a minimal. They completely LEFT OUT the chapter on "The Voice of Saruman." I can only HOPE beyond hope that they will include this in the 3rd film. Gandalf and Saruman truly get to shine in that chapter and I think it shows a lot about each character in those defining moments. I think we should protest!

I wonder if some of the Two Towers stuff hasn't been moved forward into the Return of the King movie in order to concentrate on one or two storylines? I do remember hearing that Shelob had been moved into RotK for continuity purposes...

That would make sense in terms of bringing the various plot-lines onto the screen.

The Sun's new film critic, TV presenter Johnny Vaughan, says: "This is a truly great film, and that's coming from someone who never read the book and, like many of you, only saw the first film on video."

This guy is my next door neighbor. He can barely talk, never mind writing or reviewing anything. Perfect for the SUN.:P He done very well in putting that sentence together. What he meant to say is that he never read a book, not the book.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
By Paul Arendt
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/021211/128/dgjau.html

The Lord Of The Rings returns, bigger, better, darker and sillier than ever.

They should have called it The Two Gollums. There is a lot to admire in this, the second instalment of Peter Jackson

Strang that you people only posted negative reviews so far. The movie got a bunch of positive reviews from fans and "professional" reviewers (not like the guy from the "sun").
I really find the bashing of TTT on this site stange. Ok, Mr. Lee has not a lot of screentime. Remember that Mr. Lee said "There are no small parts , just small actors" ! I think we will see more of Saruman in the extended edition of TTT and certainly in ROTK.
I am sure "The voice of Saruman" also will be in it.

I only included 2 mixed reviews, neither can be considered to be a bad review and the rest are all good. The BBC and Independent are from serious reviewers and they loved it. I also haven't bashed the film in any way, I did say that is a very good film and most people will like it. I liked some of the things but didn't find it great, that's all.

On the SUN, it was just a joke directed at my neigbour. I didn't mean what I said. Johnny may not be a professional reviewer but his opinion counts just like everyone else's. I was hoping for him to read it and chase me down the street with an axe.

The reason I haven't pasted a lot of the very good reviews is because they just blind praise the film but don't analyse anything. Also, anyone is welcome to paste their link.

I knew that before posting what I though about the film, that I will be taking some stick. I can assure you that if I found it slightly good, I would have lied trough my teeth and hyped it up big time. I did that with The Fellowship last year. Mr Lee's part in TTT is just as important as in the first film, screen time or not. There are also other actors in the film that I like watching, Viggo, Mackellen and Rhys Davies.

I would undertand if I just said, it's bad and I didn't like and made sarcastic comments but that was not the case. I looked for the good points first and then explained what I didn't like from it. No film is perfect. Anyway, who cares what I say or what anyone says, it is up to each individual to make their choice. Just because I didn't find it great, doesn't mean that it's not a great film. Actually, I hope that everyone loves it and all it gets is good reviews.
