Oscar winning actor, James Coburn died of a heart attack monday while relaxing and listening to music in his home.

After a distinguished film career spanning four decades, Mr. Coburn received a best supporting actor Academy Award for the 1998 film Affliction. He was 74.

So many old friends are leaving us. So many memories now eternal.

What sadness to see these wonderful actors pass away. A generation of talent is slowly leaving us. The awful part of reaching adulthood is watching the previous generation leave one by one. Where are the new character actors?

I was saddened by the news of James Coburns passing . I've always enjoyed his performances ( even his terrible accent in The Great Escape ) He was also an accomplished martial artist , having been taught by Bruce Lee himself . He was , apparently , a very peacefull man who had alot of time for his fans . Another Hollywood great gone .

I had heard about this on Tuesday, it was very sad indeed. I Had actually listened to him doing comentary with Eli Wallace on The Magnificent Seven 2 days before, and got a lump in the throat when I found out later.

I liked James Coburn as well. My favorite movie of his was Charade. Just recently there was a horrible remake of Charade called "The Truth About Charlie". But if you want to watch a great movie with James Coburn in it, Charade would be the one to watch.

I hate seeing these older actors leave us. They can never be replaced.

They had given us so much to remember them.

Wasn't he in "In like Flint"?

Coburn was excellent as the spoof secret agent Flint in two highly successful movies .
My favourite Coburn performance would heve to be in Sergio Leone's A Fistful Of Dynamite alongside Rod Steiger ( god ! he's gone too ) Despite another dodgy accent Coburn turns in a star performance quietly stealing scene after scene from Steiger ( no mean feat )
