Oh that's terrible, I think that I would died if that happen to me.
To sit there and watch all his collection being taken away.
The poor man must be heart broken, his live's work.
My heart goes out to him.

Very sad story indeed. To think that with all the people he has met over the years, no one would give him a hand. Life is unfair.

To say it's a disgrace is the understatement of the century . Mere words cannot express what a trajedy this is .
I can't imagine parting with my meagre collection let alone the priceless treasures Forrey amassed .
Hollywood should hang it's collective heads in shame .

Forry, as he was called by his admirers, was an inspiration for many of us of the older (well just a little) generation.
I remember buying my first issue of "Famous monsters of filmland" when i was very young, and after that waiting with anticipation for every other issues each month.
I loved reading about my favourite people in his magazine , of course article on mr. Lee , Peter Cushing ,Vincent Price Karloff and Lugosi were my favourite reads.
I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1999 (the same year and convention i met mr. Lee) and he was such a nice man, enjoying every moment he was spending with the fans, because he was a FAN himself, always was, always will.
All i can say, is life is very cruel sometimes.
I still wish him the best.
Sylvain :(

My god. What can one say? It broke my heart to read it.

This is sooo sad. If I had a museum like Mr Ackerman has or rather now had I would never let go of it. The studios said no to him???. Why??. A museum is perfect and people all of over world would visit it. I know I would have liked to.
Still the memories of the people he has met is in one way far more valuable.

As I told my friends at the Peter Cushing Assn.; like many of you I was fortunate to communicate with Forry over the years. He was always very kind to me.
Twenty-five years ago, I sent him a "King of the Rocket Men" lobby card from my collection - just so I could feel like I was a part of his.
The thought of this happening to Forry is devastating; and the thought that someone else now owns the lobby card I sent him really bites.
Uncle Forry, we love you.
Doug

Alas, the indignities of ill-health and financial crisis. My sympathy to the ultimate superfan. It's difficult to believe that no museum would harbor these artifacts.

That truly is a shame.
What always impressed me about Mr. Ackerman (after reading an article in Details a few years ago and checking in on his website) was how generous he was. Here was someone who wanted to preserve and share movie history with ordinary people. Too bad the people who make the movies themselves couldn't be bothered to preserve some of that history rather than see it reduced to a garage sale where people haggle over $2.
As saddening as this must be for Mr. Ackerman, he seems to have kept some of his optimism. I wish him the best.

To loose everything at the age of 85 must be devastating for him. A lifetime collection gone for peanuts to strangers. Hopefully some of these people will appreciate the items they purchased. It

Got this from the talented Neil Vokes at the Peter Cushing Assn. It's an address for an up-date on Forry and contact info if you'd like to wish him well. (Sorry, all, I'm too computer ignorant to supply an actual link.) http://www.bjotrimble.com/forry.htm
Thank God for Bjo Trimble and all she's done for film fandom.
