Here's a little something I just learned about this classic Cushing/Lee film. I'll give it out as a trivia question:
What was the original, rejected, title of the film that later became known as The House that Dripped Blood?
Let's see who's the first to get it.

Well, turns out that Death and the Maiden is what director Peter Duffell wanted the title changed to, but Subotsky voted him down. So far as I've been able to discern, The House that Dripped Blood is the original title.
No?

Another thing of interest concerning "The house that dripped blood", in the segment in wich mr. Lee plays, you can actually see his character reading a book, did anyone notice the title of that book?

No? | I thought it was the other way around. Well. . . in any case, you got it right! Death and the Maiden was it!

Sylvain | Sylvain, you must have telescopic super vision! Either that, or I seriously need to change my glasses prescription. I can't tell what the title is.

OK. . . While we wait on Sylvain the Man with the X-Ray Eyes. . .here's another bit of House trivia:
Mr. Lee's character shares a name with a well-known historical figure about whom, at least three films have been made. Who was he and what did he do that made him famous?

John Reid, better known as The Lone Ranger.
An easier question: what segment of House was Lee originally supposed to be in?

searching on imdb.com found that the name of Mr. Lee's character was John Reid. Searching on internet found this site which talks about the Reid family http://www.pjfarmer.com/secret/woldwest/reid.htm and how a John Reid was saved by a Potawatomi Indian called Tonto. Which for me brought to mind The Lone Ranger !?
if this isnt the answer the website is an interesting insight into one families plight in the wild frontier :) if it is...isn't the internet brilliant.
:D

Well he was reading a book that was destined to become a very famous film many years later, and a film that mr. Lee always wanted to be part of.
none other than "The lord of the rings"
(i don't have X-ray eyes Alfonso, i got this from Chris Gullo from the Peter Cushing website)
take care!

Mr. Lee was originally cast as Jon Pertwee's character, the actorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Paul Henderson.

John Reid, better known as The Lone Ranger. | No cigar, Brandy! Note I said HISTORICAL character. I don't know if the Lone Ranger is BASED on a historical character. . . But I had someone else (definitely flesh and blood) in mind.
Here's a hint: In CHRISTOPHER LEE: THE AUTHORIZED SCREN HISTORY (p.141), Jonathan Rigby spells the name of the character Mr. Lee plays differently from the Lone Ranger's name. The person I'm thinking of spelled it in this manner.

Another House trivia question:
John Bennett who plays "Inspector Holloway" in the framing story to The House that Dripped Blood played a doctor in what extremely popular BBC series?
