Can anyone tell me about Mr Lee's involvement in the episodes of Sherlock Holmes being offered on the DVD in the following ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?viewI...item=1558151250 because I didn't realise he had made any such episodes for television ?

As far as I am aware off and I'll ask Mr Lee this evening to make sure, he is not in them.

There is the posibility those may be diferent titles for the ones he did do, but to be honest I never heared of them.

He stared in the following Sherlock Holmes films only:

The Hound of the Baskervilles
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes
Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace
Sherlock Holmes and the Incident at Victoria Falls
Sherlock Holmes and the Leading Lady

Thanks Juan, you're a prince, :)

I had thought that those were his only Sherlock Holmes titles but as you say there may be alternate titles. The auction implies that these titles were part of some sort of TV series and it was my understanding that Mr. Lee had chosen not to take regular parts on TV. All in all, the way the auction description is phrased, is rather confusing, if not down right misleading.

And while we are speaking on the subject Mr. Lee's portrayals of the Great Detective, a DVD of Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace is also on ebay at the moment, if anyone is looking for it - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...item=1558069711

Mr Lee never heared of those titles. I presume it is mistake otherwise I cannot understand it.

One thing that bothers me, how many DVDs are there in this collection? Buy now for $24.99 looks very cheap to me. No DVD labels, no information about shipping cost. Is/are these proper releases or just some cowboy brew?

I'll ask the seller and if does not give a convincing response, I'll have it taken down for using Mr Lee's name in vain.

That is a question I had considered myself and it may well be a mistake, but I didn't think the seller would necessarily be forthcoming if the disks are 'dodgy'. And while we are on the subject of dodgy things - if you want to see a really, potentially 'horrible cowboy brew' look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1557568133

Many of the films listed include Mr. Lee's work (including the Wickerman among others), and many of them are being sold under license in the US and other places, so I can't understand what is actually being offered for sale in terms of the actual version of the films (digitally remastered directors cuts perhaps:D), where they come from, what the quality is like (I dread to think) and how it can be legal in the first place.

Sounds like a good idea because the way the auction is described has the potential to mislead the less cautious fan and I don't think that is fair (let alone that it commits the sin of taking Mr. Lee's name in vain :P ).

I have these items, and can solve the mystery.

They are the 1950s 30min series starring Ronald Howard and Howard Marion Crawford. Mr Lee "introduces" the episodes, which is the "general" introductions he did on THE MANY FACES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES and was used on some of the video releases of the public domain Rathbone titles

Thank you! :)

I still think that the way the description is laid out is misleading.

Is like all these "exclusive" interviews that people claim he does and later they turn out to be copy and paste jobs from years ago.

I undertand that titles in the public domain can be used in any way, but crediting someone without explaining their involvement is very misleading.
