:D The new movie ,Van Helsing, is due to begin shooting this fall.Currently in talks for the role is Hugh Jackman, from X-men.My hopes are that when they get down to character concepts, they go with a Dracula closely-based if not lifted directly from Mr. Lee's interpretations.Everyone that I have spoken to about this project is hoping for a massively lavish version of the old Hammer Films' style of Vampire film, given that we can now do more convincing visuals and makeup effects.Personally,I can't wait to see that sweeping ,near-floorlength black cloak in action again.

From what I've heard of the Van Helsing project it's a " new interpretation " of the Stoker character . One which brings him up to date and sees him battling all sorts of demonic forces ( not only vampires ) I like the sound of it and hope the project's successful , It would be nice to see a series of movies like this.

I dont know...the problem with these new movies is they lose the horror aspect to much to be marketable. Dracula was more of a love story , Frankenstien and wold were disapointments and the mummy waas morre like Raiders of the lost Ark. We need real horror fans who are people who love the genre to direct horror movies not just contract players from the studios.Sleepy Hollow was a perfect example of a horror fan making a Hammer homage that did pay off IMO

I must admit, I did like the latest The Mummy film - but it was no way a horror movie! Some of it was quite tongue-in-cheek! :P

Sleepy Hollow was a fantastic film - it had the right atmosphere, some fine actors and a splash of humour. :) Perhaps not a total horror, but one of the best modern films in the genre.

If this project is a success, it'll just confirm what I've been thinking for the past few years (ever since Buffy became a hit): That the time has come and the time is NOW for Hammer to get off their butts and resurrect Captain Kronos as either a film or TV series.

I too hope it is closer to SLEEPY HOLLOW than THE MUMMY ..
more Hammer than action adventure..
