If you check out the private gallery you'll see some of the photos I recently took of the Wickermans remains.( added courtesy of Jacob...cheers buddy )
My children took the pictures of me so I thought it only fair to have one with them at the site .Oh , my wife was shopping that day so I posted a photo from christmas 1999 so she would'nt feel left out .
The remains are still pretty sturdy ( even though some people take some samples
;)

By the way I'm six feet four inches in height so that should give you an idea about the remains.

Some sharp photos. Looks like you and the family enjoyed yourselves. A handsome family too I might add. I'm surprised to see that much of the stumps still remaining. Suppose I was expecting just little nubs left, although I've no idea why. Definitely looks to be a sense of atmosphere about the place. Thanks for posting the pix!

Cheers!

thanks for posting those photos Matt,
I envy you , i wish i could have walked on that famous soil myself, and feel that special atmosphere.
This is such a wonderful and stunning looking place, and i am sure that you could feel some special vibes all around you while you were there.
I am also very surprised that there is anything left of the great "man", after so many years!!

great stuff!

No problem. Thank you for a piece from the Wickerman.
I had put it in the wooden box from the US Wickerman dvd release.
A dvd release can't get more complete than this. :D

Great photo's Matt,:) It must have been a great day out, I too was surprised to see how much was left, what with the amount of people who visit, thought at least they would have had a bit of a fence around, Thanks for sharing your photos with us. One day I hope to get there myself, it's only a few hours drive.

jacob, great piece you got there off Matt, I envy you.;) all you need to go with the wood is an autograph of Edwood Woodwood, that should complete it.:D

It was VERY expensive when I bought it but it was well worth it due to the wonderful box. It's not Swedish wood though but the wood is ok. :) Not high quality:D

If you guys ( and gals ) have a multi region DVD player you MUST get your hands on the region 2 release of The Wickerman. As well as everything on the r1 release it has a fantastic commentary by Christopher Lee , Edward Woodward , Robin Hardy and is moderated by horror film expert Mark Kermode . It's one of the best full length commentaries I have ever heard .

Matt, it is amazing that so much is left after so long! Is that a concrete foundation holding up the pilings? That might explained why they are still there. They probably go down very deep into the earth!

Your son and daughter are very nice looking! You must be very proud of them!

I would like to see some photos of the Sex, Druids and Rock n' Roll at the festival. LOL.

Did they have a parade? Swords? Canned peaches? And the most burning question of all Matt, where's your kilt?

Well Dave........yes there was a parade , a few swords and I saw a couple of peaches ( but I'm not going into that ).
I did'nt take my camera to the festival as it was mostly at night and the amount of whisky I was FORCED to drink would have ruined my photography skills anyway .
We burned two 30ft wickermen on a nearby farmers field which was great fun . I sang a couple of songs ( not very traditional I'm afraid , Sinatra ) and then fell asleep.
The following afternoon , when fully recovered , I went home and picked up the kids leaving my wife to go shopping ( her hobby ) That's when I took the photos .
There is no fence surrounding the site neither is it signposted .The only way to find it is to ask the locals. To the rear of the remains is a drop of about 70ft to the rocks and sea below .The site is very isolated and not on any map which is probably why it survives .I only found out about it recently myself when I saw a photo of Anthony Shaffer standing at it in a book about the movie .In fact ,the only hint that it's there is at the nearby caravan site where a small sign reads . " If going to St. Ninians Cave or The Wickerman please leave your car here and proceed on foot." You then have to follow a small trail but it's all worth it .
With regards to the kilt.........I have one but it's for weddings only.:)
