One of my favorite CL lines of all time came from this episode...
"I wanted to be Mother Nature, but couldn't tell margerine from butter."
I can hardly wait to see it again... :D

YES! I just noticed it as well on E!
The re-broadcasts are only 1 hour long so unfortunately something will be cut out.
No offense to Meatloaf, but if something has to be deleted, I wish it was ML's song (minus Mr Lee's fun intro) that they would eliminate and make sure all the CL skits (PLEASE! Especially the one with Penny and Mr Death!) would be included.
Am I asking for too much???

The "Mr. Death" sketch is among the very most well-known and beloved in SNL history...no way in hell they'd cut that out.
Looks like I'll have to find out, anyway, through this discussion; doesn't appear that I'll find a way to see it. :(

Thank you so much Maria! I have "E" and I've been checking every week. Wouldn't you know this is the one week when I didn't look ahead of time. I would have missed this if it weren't for you! Can't wait!
It's been simply ages since I've seen this but I remember it very well. At the time I thought, "What a cool idea! This guy on Saturday Night Live! I can't wait to see his comedic talents!" He didn't fail, that's for sure! He can be sooooo very funny! I guess it's that sense of humor that's kept him going to the wonderful age of 80! You can't be as successful as he is without that sense of humor. What a guy!

I had the pleasure of a small snippet of this programme while at Joe's last week, I told him I've never seen a single episode, and no sooner had I said it, he showed me some on his small tv :P
hope they come out on DVD one day.

I must admit I'm looking forward to once again hearing him refer to Dr. Terror's House of Pancakes...

Sure it's tonight Joe, but it's considered tomorrow morning after midnight -- tricky considering it's at 1:00am! ;) The CL TV link here also mentions the 10th.

Tv Guides being what tyhey are, I saw 4 differant ones yesterday that all showed it playing at midnight my time on 7/3. Of course I set the VCR and of course it was not the CL episode. In fact I won't be surprised when 6 PM rolls around today and I tape it and it's not that episode. This is the 3rd time I've seen it listed and it hasn't actually showed once. One bad omen tho, The episode they aried at midnight 7/3 was minus the opening monologue............:furious:

Well kids, that was fun! :) There were just a few things edited out: "The Island of Lost Luggage" and "Dr. Jeckle and Mr. Rogers" from the opening; one of Meatloaf's songs; Richard Belzar's standup act; and the short film by Gary Weiss. Mr. Lee looked so happy during the closing/goodbye, you can tell that he had a great time! "Mr. Death" still the best skit, in my opinion. Catch it at 1am if you missed it at 7!

It was on at 7pm our time here and it WAS the CL episode, thank God.
They left in the opening monologue. But since it was only 1 hour long, I'm trying to figure out what they excluded. Wasn't there a skit with CL as Holmes?
Anyone remember?
Carm
PS. Dave...they DID have the Penny and Mr Death skit. It would have been a mortal sin to leave that out. And also Meatloaf was left in along with Mr Lee's funny intro.
PPS. "Not all my movies begin at 3am on channel 9....."

Carmen and Greg,
No Holmes -- you're thinking of Professor Higgins and Col. Pickering in the "My Fair Lady" sketch.

I had heard-- though I could be wrong-- that the Holmes sketch was cut either in original broadcast or the original syndication.
Mind you, back when this show originally broadcast I would never have been allowed to stay up that late, as I was all of 7 or 8 at the time....
