I wonder if Mr. Lee (or any other actors or actresses) find it hard not to disclose any information about being in such films as Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. I know in the contracts they have to remain tight lipped about certain things, even to family members from what I hear. But come on...who wouldn't tell maybe their spouse or a close friend? I guess it all boils down to self control. I'd have a hard time not being able to talk about it to someone.

It must be hard, but I know that Lucas makes them sign a very strict confidentiality agreement not to divulge any of the good details. I think they could get in a lot of trouble if they gave away any surprises.
It would be hard to keep it to yourself, but I'm sure that all of the actors involved are professional enough to resist the temptation. I bet they tell their pets though, just to be able to say it out loud. I know I would.

Wow...can you imagine Mr. Lee expounding on all of the Star Wars secrets to his pet? That comment made me laugh out loud! Thanks for that one.

I reckon most actors must find it hard not to tell their family and friends that they are going to be in such-and-such a film. But if they're professional actors, it's part of their job to be able to do that, and remain 'tight-lipped'.
Telling pets? LOL - I tell my dog more than I tell my friends, so that's probably true! :D

While we're on the subject of pets, does anyone know what kind of animal Mr. Lee prefers as a pet? I've always found it fascinating to discover what kinds of animals a favorite actor/actress has. I've got a zoo, with a total of 44 creatures at my house - furry, reptilian, aquatic - they're all here. Not to mention my favorite pet - my husband...LOL!!! |

Wow. Your husband is your pet huh? Kinkiness on the Christopher Lee forums is strictly forbidden! haha *kidding*
As far as REAL pets go, I prefer dogs. I never liked cats...or snakes...or birds...or hamsters...or rabbits. Rabbits are mean! That's why you feed 'em greens!

That is quite a full house you have there skorpionn, it also sounds like a full time job taking care of them all.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee had a dog at one time named Bongo.

He's quite the disciplined fellow, having been a secret agent during the war. I think the money and future opportunities that hung in the balance were probably sufficient incentive to keep the details close to his vest. Besides, he knows how to make a dramatic entrance well! Why ruin the surprise?

I'm extremely fond of all kinds of animals - they're better than people in most respects, so actually calling my husband my favorite "pet" is a REAL compliment. As a matter of fact my Siamese, Eulalie, just had kittens this morning, four in all. My other cat, Genesis, a flame point Siamese, is the father - obviously, they're all white. So now I have 48 animals - that will be getting reduced this weekend tho.' So The Lee's had a dog, but no longer do? I don't have any dogs in my batch, but would love to get a German Shepard puppy.:smilewink

Well, all in all, there are 5 pets in my household - a dog, a cat, two rats and a guinea pig. The two Rats are mine, and are fantastic lil pets, and the dog is more mine than the others, too.
I like Dogs - they're loyal creatures. :dog: My dog is a lovely pet, but she has a lot of problems, bless her... we did get her from a rescue centre, for she had been a stray. Her problems all stem from her nervousness - including the fact that she is terrified (and can therefore get a bit nasty) of tall, dark-haired, deep-voiced men.
Hmm... :thinkerg: now that physique sounds familiar... :P

As to Mr Lee and pets, besides Bongo, he had a dog while in the service named Vodka. I also believe he has had cat(s) at one point or another. And as a child, he had a couple of dogs.
I know Christina had a pet tiger as well. It's all in the autobio, so check it out.

By the way, rabbits are not mean. I have one and he couldn't be sweeter or gentler. Many times it has to do with their owners and how they are treated in the first place. That's true for all pets, as we know.

No, the only animal that can be justifiably called "mean," the only animal you need to be afraid of, is the only animal with choice -- humans.

I've had several cats -- pregnant strays find me, and three dogs (a Gordon Setter, a Border Collie, and a Terrier mix). Since my daughter is very allergic, I've had to stick with birds. We have 9: 5 budgies, 1 English budgie, 2 canaries, and one cockatiel. The 'tiel, Pepe, sits on my shoulder and cuddles me all day! Kids can't believe their eyes when they see a bird on my shoulder, it's cute.
Every guy should have a dog named after liquor during their life! Somehow I expected to see a siamese or burmese on Mr. Lee's lap.

Maria:
You're not wrong about seeing Mr Lee with a cat on his lap.
Pam, past President of the CLIFC, wrote a very cute story about this very subject. It's somewhere on this site in an archive, so check it out. It's a very funny and sweet story.

PS. Thanks, Alfonso, for supporting the bunnies of the world. Sad, but true, is your comment about humans. Alas, were it not so. :(

Well, I'd have to agree with Alfonso, humans are the only "mean" creatures on the earth. Animals follow instinct, and do not have the intellect that humans possess in order to premeditate mean behavior. While we're on the subject and everyone seems to have elaborated on their past and present pets, I'll just give a run down of the animals in my household right now:
Seven adult cats - five males and 2 females, nine infant kittens (4 kittens 1-1/2 weeks old; 5 kittens 1 day old). Two adult Dutch rabbits, one male, one female, and six 1-month-old baby bunnies. Three guinea pigs, two females and one male. One male Red Tail Boa and two male Ball Pythons. One female Bearded Dragon, and one male Rose Hair Tarantula. Two salamanders (unsure of their sex); three standard goldfish; one Oscar fish, three tropical fish, two Fire Eels, two large Moray Eels, and two Peacock Eels. Just this past weekend we gave our six baby guinea pigs and our two dwarf hamsters to our nearby, and favorite pet store in exchange for rats for the snakes and crickets for the salamanders, tarantula, and Bearded Dragon. In general my house usually contains about 40 animals, but at the present we have 49. In my personal opinion, God should have stopped at the animals, meaning He shouldn't have created the human race because we don't take care of anything properly - the planet, each other etc. I know that sounds a bit crazy because most people would not agree. I just think that animals are superior simply because they are honest.
