Well, I just finished my drawing of Mr. Lee about an hour ago, scanned it in, and am ready to share it with anyone who cares to have a look. I think all the artists on this fan site should post their work for all of us to enjoy. I'll be parting with my drawing soon because I'm going to send it to Mr. Lee. By the way, Juan, would Mr. Lee sign a copy of my picture and he can have the original? Dr Jekyll |

Stunning rendition Skorpionn! I'm particularly blown away by the eyes and their expression. I've always loved that publicity still from The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll. I used to sport identical sideburns, but I will unashamedly admit that I never looked a fraction as sharp...just vaguely goofy. Once again, great piece of work!
Cheers!

That is an amazing picture, Skorpionn! Perhaps you could give me some tips!
I already posted my young Count Dooku elsewhere, and another one of the Count Dooku as we see him in AOTC - but I'll post a link to the thread of the latter here if you wanna take a gander! :D
Excuse the slight blurriness of it - I had to reduce the size, and it shows a little! Oh well... http://christopherleeweb.com/forums/showth...p?threadid=2308 |

Thanx everyone for your compliments. I can only hope Mr. Lee has such nice things to say about it when he gets it. Yes, Jurious, I have had a look at your work - and it's quite good. The only tips I can think of are - DETAILS and CONCENTRATION. Perhaps all these years of putting my make-up on has helped too, LOL!! I chose this particular picture for a couple of reasons; 1 - My maiden name is Hyde (y'know, Dr. Jekell & Mr. Hyde); 2 - I'm rather hesitant to say it, but he is Very Handsome in this particular picture. Not that he isn't otherwise, but this one struck me as unique. I know, I know - the guys here hate it when someone brings up how attractive he is, but I've only stated my reasons for drawing the picture. Anyway, I've got a link just below here to my website with some more drawings on it. The ones on my site are just from my imagination, not copied from photos or other pictures. Art On My Site |

State away! :) Everyone here knows and admires Mr. Lee for his seemingly limitless assets, including his looks, Skorpionn.
Your portrait is indeed stunning, one of the finest I've seen. Do you do artwork professionally? Dave |

Well, I've been drawing for about 20 years now, the last 14 being the best. I have considered drawing professionally, but I need to be in the right frame of mind in order to turn out something that I, let alone the person who asked me to do the picture, would like. I'm my own worst critic - and very sensitive to criticism (rather harmful fault of mine). I also write poetry, and have had my share of criticism regarding my work in that realm. So, if given ample time and allowed to free my mind of daily stresses, I could potentially have a go at it professionally, but I'm not that lucky. Having three children (one of my own, and two step-kids), limits one's time and certainly reduces the chances of being in the right frame of mind or "mood" as I usually refer to it. Money is no incentive, although I've never had it as one, so it could be, LOL. I'm going to attempt a few other CL portraits, but not right away...once I strart a picture it's diffuclt to stop - leaving me "pooped out."

I'm my own worst critic, too - I can often see faults with my pictures when someone lese I show it to will just say it's good, and that there's nothing wrong with it!
I'm not too appreciative of criticism either - but I'm gaining confidence in that area! I write fanfiction, and have been doing some SW ones lately (about Count Dooku, of course...) and find that, even though criticism can hurt, it often helps get the best results! After showing piece-by-piece of my story to fellow SW fans and fanfic writers, I can gradually hone my skills and turn out some quality stuff!
The only problem with getting criticism on pictures is that you have to start all over again - you can't usually just modify a little bit! :)

Thank you, Christina. Coming from you, that means a lot. It's off in the mail today, had to pay a little extra to get it there in time to be autographed. I've never taken an art class in my life, but certainly would love to. My only advice on drawing came from my father, who did draw a lot, but not seriously. I've neglected the "artsy" side of myself for quite a few years, but have decided to pick up my pencil again and finish my latest project (a calendar with art and poetry). Seems I've bitten off more than I can chew with this project, but there's still time to pick up the pace...:twirl:

Rep Power: 0 | Quote: | I need to be in the right frame of mind in order to turn out something that I, let alone the person who asked me to do the picture, would like. | Now that is a truth that I can surely understand. When I had bags of time (the occasional bout of unemployment) I found I couldn't draw a thing. Good, bad or indifferent, as I simply couldn't focus or get into "the mood". The day that I was informed that I had secured a position with Positive Concepts back in '97, I immediately managed to produce 3 drawings ( two of which featured on my annual Sherlock Holmes Society Christmas cards and in a few limited edition prints) before actually starting the job a week later. While with PC for the next 3 - 1/2 years I produced very little (one complete illustration and the pencils for another, the latter of which eventually became my Sherlock Holmes card for 2001!). After leaving PC I spent close to 15 months without steady employment and produced nothing but the pencils for one drawing of Mr. Lee (which I ended up finishing in PhotoShop because I couldn't concentrate enough to get my inks right...yes, it is the illustration in the gallery on this site). I've always felt vaguely sheepish and guilty about explaining the 'mood' thing to friends that ask about what I've drawn lately, and I invariably respond with "Absolutely nothing". Frustrating in the extreme. Needless to say, since being gainfully employed once again, I find the necessary time to be of such a premium that even if 'the mood' takes me, I haven't got the bloody time to get beyond basic layouts, if that. Nasty catch-22 as far as I'm concerned.
My advice to artists, when the mood and the ability is upon you, draw your heart out, as you never know when that sort of productivity will be available to you again. Make the most of it!
Cheers!

Infact, I guess I already have been. Lately I've never drawn so many pics of Mr.Lee in my life! :D

Beautiful portrait! The observant fan gets to know the "landscape" of the face and the timbre of the voice well -- you obviously know your subject! ;)

Jeeeeeeeez! What a great portrait! Me too, I tryed a lot to do great drawing and painting but I never been able to make something look like my actual model (except a portrait of Anita Ekberg in "La Dolce Vita" who actually look like a women). When I was studying writing and movies making, I had to do a classe of painting and drawing and the teacher finally ask me to go to the library during the class because my own artwork hurt her "artistic sensibility". Well...
I just showed your great portrait of Mr Lee to my mother who is an art teacher and she loved it a lot too. But I must tell that my mother don't appreciate Mr Lee that much... She was traumatized by "horror on dracula" in the 50's (her and her sisters saw the movie on theatre and it took years to thems to became less scared). Every time she see Mr Lee in a movie, she have nightmare (even now). But I think that "non appreciation" of Mr Lee for a reason like that is like a compliment to Mr Lee's talent ;o)
Great portrait anyway, I really love it and I hope you will post more of them here soon! Thank for sharing with us!
