I've noticed in a lot of CL's movies he's got a ring on his pinkie finger of the left hand. It appears to be gold with some sort of dark stone in it. Forgive me for my ignorance, in case it's common knowledge of the ring and why he always wears it, almost in every movie I've seen. Anyone know what the significance of this ring has to Mr. Lee?

It's the Carandini family crest and the stone is a very dark green with red flecks called blood stone.

Forry Ackerman said the ring worn by Lee in Horror of Dracula was indeed the same ring worn by Lugosi in a film. I cant recall if it was the original Dracula or Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. In The Many Faces of Christopher Lee, Mr. Lee holds up a ring and states its a copy of the one worn by Lugosi, so most certainly the ring worn by Lee in Horror of Dracula was at least a duplicate of the one worn by Lugosi. I will have to dig up that interview with Forrest Ackerman but I also seem to vaguely recall that he said he had gotten the original ring and had given it to Hammer or Mr. Lee for the film, but its a little sketchy in my head right now.

How very cool, I wish I had a ring with my family crest. My maiden name is Hyde, so all the Brit's probably have better access to finding that particular crest than I do. Thanks so much for the info, Christina.

Is there a good picture of this ring anywhere?? It sounds cool. Bloodstone seems so appropriate.

I believe the the Bloodstone comment was referring to all of Mr. Lee's "Dracula" roles...

Yes, I was associating the Bloodstone to his popular and often revisited role as Dracula. He is THE movie Dracula, as far as I'm concerned. Not Bela Lugosi, not Gary Oldman etc... none of the others can compare with the style of Christopher Lee's Dracula.
That isn't to say that it is his best work. There are a good 4 or 5 movies with Mr. Lee that I like more that Dracula, but it is undeniable that role was a defining moment for him as an actor.

I presume that the next thing would be to ask if his familly crest has bats. There is no need to make insulting remarks like that. Let's not mix his roles with his personal life.

If offence was given ( and I would be stunned if it was ) it should be obvious to all concerned that it was not intended .....Lighten up Admin.

Stunned? What you said upsets Mr Lee who is too much of a gentlemen to bother giving you a response. If it upset Mr Lee, it upset Christina and if it upsets my wife it upsets me.
Next time think before you put in a thoughtless remark like that.
