One more thing. . . Call me old-fashioned, but I think that housing the homeless, fighting illiteracy and poverty, helping build schools and patrol neighborhoods are much better ways of "helping the community" than stealing someone's work.

(snip ) "Help the community??" Give me a break! I agree, most of these people don't do what they do for profit, but they do it for, perhaps, an even less admirable motive. They do it so they can possess something, that they know a lot of people are eager to have, before it becomes available. Then they can feel 'all superior.' It's a petty mentality

Ok....

Well....

Why else would people on xnews,irc...kaza...ect,keep these files or upload them, other than they want to share the fun ?

Realy makes no sense to me ? Like sure someone whp is petty is going to wast their internet high bandwidth to upload files they are trying to boast about ?

Yea....exactly....give me a break :)

Do you think 50% of the people who use photoshop 6 or 7 actualy paid 300+ for that software ?

Why should someone pay that much for a pile of crap on a cd that should be included on windows....or should just be free anyway.

Hell I have no problem paying for things that ARE WORTH MY MONEY....and AT A DECENT PRICE!

But I have no issues with having pirated software,if its something I need to use right now or want and do not have the cash for.

I mean cry me a bloody river.

LOL

Poverty is an issue sure, but thats what alot of immagration does,Homeless....sure....if its not their own fault, otherwise let them rot....we do not need to support people who waste their lives on drugs and booze, then have the nerve to cry help.

Patroling neighborhoods,yes....the police already do this,but....there is so much swine and disgusting filth in north america, that well....its getting to be a lost cause :)

And here is another thing to ponder, What you consider "just" or Good...seeing as how you'r own views and ethics are subjective to you,and not others.

Lets face it,if you say something is unethical or bad or evil, that does not make it so for the WHOLE,that is simply your own subjective view on what is ok for you :)

That is one justification on why this is ok.

Different strokes for different folks ya know :)

Well, we can disagree politically. Afterall, this isn't a political forum.

But as for piracy, sorry, friend, stealing is wrong. Whether you plagiarize a paper at school or buy a pirated tape/DVD it's still stealing someone's work. And it makes no difference whether the person you stole it from is an unknown writer/musician putting out their own chapbooks/demo tapes or a multimillionaire director/producer. You're taking someone's work/livelihood.

Stealing is wrong no matter how you try to justify it.

I would say I agree on selling part, as for stealing in general, that realy depends on the person you would be stealing from.

Some people deserve it,like it or not, stealing is only wrong to the individual who believes it to be wrong, also I do not consider downloading a movie or software to be stealing,I consider it my right:)

Just look what the fbi said to cnn today about the daniel pearl video. What they think they can stop the internet from being used to download this stuff ?

People will always have copies,of movies games ect ect...

There is no way to stop it.
Make more laws........it will only cause people to break them.
Teach people not to do something....you only make them realise what they can and will do.

Their is many many companies out there who literly steal peoples money in the form of overcharging things to the point it would be considerd criminal.

Besides,I do not care about the Law,the only time I ever follow the law,is when I am forced to or suffer from not following it.

But laws are created by society, who I have no use for :)
