Any fans in the midwest may want to set aside June 1st and 2nd to attend the C3Fest at the old Gateway Theater in Chicago. Aside from other films being shown on June 1 at 4PM CDT they will show Horror Of Dracula on the Big Screen. On Sunday June 2nd they will be showing The Vampire Lovers on the big screen presented in person by Ingrid Pitt!!! I will post more info on the HOD print as soon as I get it. The VL print is a newly struck restored print with all the missing footage. kind of a preview of the upcoiming DVD release from MGM this Halloween. For more in fo on the convention click here.:1roll:

Just received this message from the promoter about the HOD print:

"The Horror Of Dracula Print is a 35mm technioclor print. It is in good shape
with a little wear, but not nearly as bad as the horrible print run by the
Chicago International Film Festival a couple of years ago. that was so
redshifted it was embarassing. This print is much much better."

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, how I'd LOVE to see that, both "Horror" and "The Vampire Lovers" on the big screen. In my entire life, I've only managed to see one Hammer film in the theatre, "The Satanic Rites of Dracula," back in '78 when it finally reached these shores.

Gosh, you must be my doppelganger or something. The only Hammer Dracula movie I got to see in the theatre was "Satanic Rites/Vampire Bride" and it opened in my area on my birthday. It may not be the most popular of the series, but I'll never forget seeing it in a nice big old cinema with just one gigantic screen and super-deafening auditorium-blasting sound.

Wish I could get there to see HOD. . . .

I hope as many fans get to see HOD on the big screen as it was meant to be seen .It's my favourite Hammer film as you'll be able to see when my review of it appears shortly .
I was very lucky to be able to see quite a few Hammers at the cinema in the mid to late 70's when a local theatre put the occassional double bill on a Sunday evening .
Then , about 20 years later , the GFT cinema in Glasgow had a retrospective spanning a whole month . It was great they showed everything from The Curse Of Frankenstein to Twins Of Evil.As good as DVD is , and it really is , nothing beats the big screen . HAVE FUN !
