Ms Rocky:

Funny you should mention it, I'm in the process of finishing up a review on that film which I'll post here soon.

I love that movie! Fun, fun, fun. Did you see the DVD version? It's far superior to the tape.

A great buddy flick!

what a great movie. the chemistry with Peter is fantastic. i have owned it on vhs for a while and just recently picked up the dvd for under $20.00. A great line in the movie when they are trying to find who could be the monster and someone says it could be Peter or Christopher . Peter says "a monster..but we are British!!" a great line. This movie was the first one Peter made after his wife passed away and i have a feeling if Christopher wasnt a co star he wouldnt have done it at all. This movie even gets good reviews in most Horror books and is not as well known as the Hammer films.Anyone reading this hasnt seen it ..Go buy it now

I think that was one of the first videos I tried to copy from the TV with my VCR! I loved it! So campy! I even loved the hack job our local late night 'spook show host' did to it when he replaced a lot of the sound track with other sounds...everytime a door opened a toilet would flush, and when the Kossacks borded the train, they played the Mickey Mouse theme! And who can forget Telly Savalis!

Ms Rocky,

To me it is one of Christopher Lee/Peter Cushing's best films - imaginative, creepily staged, well-paced, action-packed and very original. Also, PC & CL get plenty of good screen time.

Incidentally, it was filmed at the tail-end of 1971 and into 1972 - Peter Cushing was loathed to do the film since it meant him being away from Britain over Christmas and it was nearly a year after his wife had died.

Christopher Lee hated the studio set-up: in his autobiography he said that the catering was diabolical. Humourously, when he complained to Peter, the latter laughed it off, much to CL's annoyance!
