I know quite a few of Christopher's films like 'The Man With The Golden Gun', 'The Mummy' or 'Horror of Dracula' in the German version; In all these films he has been dubbed by a different person. Some come close to his original voice, some are completly different. It's a pity for all the German fans of Christopher that most of them never had the opportunity to listen to his actual voice... and you all know what they miss. Nevertheless, none of his German voices is really bad so you can watch it without getting a heart attack. Having heard Christopher's German I dare say it would not have been very hard for him to dub his films into the German language. But for all of you who are interested in listening to Christopher's German and Spanish voice, here's a good DVD to buy:
go visit www.amazon.de , search DVD 'Der Mann mit dem goldenen Colt' = 'The Man with the Golden Gun'
This DVD version is BETTER than the ones you can get in the UK or the US (unfortunately I bought mine in the US) because it has a complete (OPTIONAL subtitles) English, German and Spanish language track as well as the original audio commentary by members of the cast - of course all the trailers, and other extras are on it as well WITHOUTGerman subtitles. By the way: for all the Bond buffs like me - this goes for all but one Bond DVD ('Im Geheimdienst Ihrer Majestät' = 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' which for some reason has only a German language track on it) For those in the US: be sure to see whether your DVD player is Regional Code 2 compatible - this type of DVD player is usually called a Universal Player-... UK DVDs are like the German ones.

If you want to hear Mr. Lee speaking german, you should get the german version of "The Last Unicorn" , because he dubbed the character he did in the original version (King Haggert , I think)
in german. I really must say that he sounds like a german native speaker in this. To my knowledge this was the only time Mr. Lee dubbed one of his film in german.

dracula an son which is what Dracula et" fils is called in america i in fact have a copy of the american copy an it's badly dubbed c'lee thought it was a riot doing that film. since it's not really a dracula movie. but it's not that bad my fave line is that guy is perfect he looks like christopher lee. i think it's said that way. but if it came on dvd i'd buy it.i just bought the wicker man the wooden box. an i haven't watched it yet. so it'a kinda funny that i just bought this movie an then i think director dies.

Well, I certainly agree with the fact that some of the german voices are quite ok BUT as owner of several German versions I must say that not one of them has the effect on me that only Mr Lee himself can conjour. The combination of his visual presence and the commanding tone of his voice is unparalleled!

I remember some years ago watching 'Songs of Praise' on BBC1, but only after they advertised that Christopher Lee would be singing one or two songs on the programme, at that age I did not appreciate that he could sing as well as act, to my amazement he sang them in German! Up till that point I'd only heard people speaking German 'on TV'...let alone anyone singing in the language.........I watched spellbound! :stormTroo
