Ok Im new here and glad to be here. I got a question for you guys and and gals . I think its safe to say Mr. Lee feels his favorite role is lord Summerisle from the wicker man, but I wanna know the members opinions on what they feel is their favorite part he played. I always thought his best role was Dracula frrm the 58 version until I saw the Wicker Man... but recently I purchased Rasputin the Mad Monk and I must admit that has replaced the wicker man as my favorite Christopher Lee role. Rasputin was what people refer to as a Tour de force role. I was so impressed!!
looking forward to other fans opinions

Welcome Fred
There are many different opinions on this, Mr Lee's first three choices are:
"Jinnah" The best acting performance he has ever given.
"The Wicker Man" and "A Feast at Midnight" come next in no particular order.
His favorite Hammer Film is "Rasputin: The Mad Monk"

Hi Fred B.
I know you will enjoy this site very much, I really do. You learn so much about Mr. Lee.
I liked him best in the movies The Mummy and in The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Wish you enough

Welcome Fred
Jinnah will take some topping, Mr. Lee at his best. He said he put everything into it, and a lot more, it definately shows. After been privilaged to see this with some other members I left thinking that Mr. Lee put something into that character no other actor of his day could have put. It was more than acting...He was 'Jinnah'.
Before I had seen this film my favourite character was Lord Summerisle, that film has stuck in my mind since I first saw it. It leaves an impression.
Then the creature from Frankenstein.

Best roles? The Wicker Man, Dracula, The Devil Rides Out. But I also love his work in The Three/Four Musketeers,The Gorgon, The Hands of Orlac, Beat Girl, Treasure Island, A Tale of Two Cities, Death Train, 1941, Ivanhoe, The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll, The Man With the Golden Gun and even Police Dog!

We need 2 different polls here, one for serious roles, and another for his silly roles. I really enjoy watching somebody traditionally cast in such silly roles get to try their hands at comedy. Mr. Lee is good at both, but I don't think a lot of people really expect him to be funny, so it's really a pleasant surprise!
Best dramatic roles: The Wicker Man, probably to be replaced in the future by his role as Saruman, in Lord of the Rings. This is a prediction based on what I've heard so far from various sources. Dracula. Rasputin.
Best comedy roles: The House of the Long Shadows--his witty repartee with Vincent Price is classic. The Return of Captain Invincible--showcases his wonderful contra-basso singing talent and shows what a great sport he is, similar to something you might see in Rocky Horror!

Lee's greatest roles have generally been in tandem with his old mate Peter Cushing - Dracula, Hound of the Baskervilles, The Creeping Flesh etc - although as is well known he considers his performance as Lord Summerisle in The Wicker Man to be his best.

I thought that Rasputin was a very entertaining film. Sometimes when I feel I'm getting the bad end of the stick I find myself saying "Grigori, why you do this to me?". Did anybody see the tv film rasputin with alan rickman, ian mckellen and greta scacchi? Also very entertaining, a totally different view of the mad monk. Is there much debate about what he was like?

I dont think alot of the movie was accurate. I beleve the 2 characters in the movie that kill him in the end was based on one person who I believe Mr. Lee actually met when he was a boy. Hammer took a lot of liberties but the movie and the performance was amazing. I have said before I feel its his best performance ive seen him give

My own personal (and in the end it is just that) favourite Christopher Lee performances would be his work in
THE WICKER MAN
DRACULA (AKA: HORROR OF DRACULA)
THE DEVIL RIDES OUT
and I fully expect to be adding the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy in the very near future!

It is hard to pick my one favorite. I suppose that it is because I have never had the opportunity to see him in two wonderful roles. I would love to see JINNAH and A FEAST AT MIDNIGHT.
