Christina Lee is on a distinguished road
Like me, but in no particular order: Laura, Private Lives of Elizabeth & Essex, Champagne for Caesar, The Story of Mankind, The Great Mouse Detective, The Raven, The Ten Commandments, Edward Scissorlands, The House of Wax, Dragonwyck, The Whales of August. I could go on and on and on and on and.........

And not so favourite? - The Fly and the House on Haunted Hill.

The absolute worst was a children's television show from the 70's that had "fun" monsters and a weekly (and weakly, heh--heh) dance segment. I forget the name, but it was so bad it was embarrassing.

Wait, was it called "The Monster Squad"?

another bad one he did was the sequel to Dr.goldfoot. the first one was one of his best movies but it's like he didn't care how it came out cause he was forced to do it by his contract.
christina most of your favorite movie's of vincent price i haven't even seen yet. but i agree on laura.if U like him as an actor read his daugther's bio on him her name is victoria price
but there are so many good movies he's done like his kind of woman with robert mitchum anyone see that one?

I have to dissagree with a couple of you on this one because I loved The Fly, I loved everything about it.
Not forgetting his great performance in The Phybes movies.
Can,t think of a bad one just yet.

How about that movie about Our Lady of Fatima? I think I read that he didn't like that one. I think that He played the mean atheist government official. Ironically, Price converted to Catholicism later in life after talking to Bishop Fulton Sheen, the charismatic tv priest.

I loved his comedy roles with Karloff and Lorre. Edward Scissorhands and The Whales of August were good too: bittersweet due to his fragile health.:frostyang

I remember some clever comebacks on The Hollywood Squares, too!

Like another fan stated on the website, my heroes, during my formative years, were Karloff, Chaney & Lugosi (thanks to the syndicated Shock Theatre TV package), plus Price, Lee & Cushing (who were filling the local cinema screens at the time).

"Theatre of Death" is my favorite Price film - a great combination of Vincent's campy & ghoulish sides. I loved all of the Poe films, as well.

No contest for all-time worst - "Bloodbath at the House of Death" - a totally unfunny, profane travesty. Poor Vincent must have wandered into this production by accident (at least, I hope he did).

The actual title of "Our lady of Fatima" is "The Song of Bernadette." I think it came out in the early 40's. I taped it a few years ago off of AMC, it's actually a pretty entertaining flick. As far as worst pictures go, I find it pretty hard to argue about "Bloodbath At..." Pretty rotten. However, I think "Scavenger Hunt" has it's moments. I can't hate anything that has Scatman Crothers in it !!!!! The second Dr. Goldfoot is pretty bad as well.

Personally, I really enjoyed the Phibes films, the first Goldfoot picture along with House of Usher and Pit & the Pendulum. Edward Scissorhands was excellent although not particularly a Vincent Price vehicle.
Song of Bernadett was not a bad movie but not one that I particularly cared for either. I watched it just the one time on AMC but if it came on again I would pass.
House on Haunted Hill was sort of a fun film although I wouldn't have watched it more than once were it not to see Price have such a good time being bad. I liked the remake for the same reason - fun over substance. Likewise for The Tingler.
The Raven was entertaining but the acting made the film good rather than an excellent script.
I think Price is a good example of a great actor who was wasted on bad scripts more than once.
Does anyone out there agree with me that Johnny Depp is the closest thing to a classic horror actor in modern times?
(Of course he does a lot of non-horror films but the Tim Burton films, From Hell and the like certainly make it clear that he has a taste and a talent for the genre than many actors today do not.)

I have to agree with you on johnny depp. U don't see too many actors like c.lee or vincent price anymore. they care more aboute the special effects then the story. but it's getting better these days. more movies are better then they were 5yrs ago. but i love the phibe movies. in his bio well the one his daughter wrote it said that he was forced to do a lot of the movies he did an he even admited in an old interview that he did them only cause for his art collection an for the traveling.
which explains why price did some of his movies. anyone disagree?

I highly recommend Laura (and a very young Vincent Price) to viewers.

Private Lifes of Elizabeth and Essex is also interesting, not only for a young VP--but because Price and Mr. Lee both had the experience of working with the irascible Errol Flynn when they were both starting out as actors.

In later years, an interviewer once asked Price why he did so many horror films. He dryly retorted that he had no choice because "in the 1950s, James Dean and Marlon Brando showed up and stopped speaking the English language..." a mild dig at American Cinema's turn away from more classical approaches to acting and into the vaunted Method...

Best,

John F
