We haven't got to that part yet. Haven't figured out how to upload the DVD and which version will be available for general viewing, or where. Nor have we decided which software to use.

The most probable thing is that all his answers will be in the multimedia section. One in high quality video (maybe QT) and another in Real Media (Voice). That section is still being worked on, so you just have to bear with us until we are ready to publish.

When that happens, you will know.

It would be a smashing idea if you could produce a dvd to sell on the website, a members only disc. I imagine if you've gone to the trouble of a DVD Camcorder, surely you have a DVD writer..so it'd be easy enough to produce a few copies and just as easy to do dvd covers, I've recently adapted my CDROM discs to DVD covers and bought the spare transparent & double cases from the APR Media Center [ www.aprvideo.co.uk (sales@aprvideo.co.uk [01823 324060] they'll also supply you with a dvd insert template. For those who haven't a DVD player it is possible to copy DVD to CDROM but as long as the file is more that 650mb to fit onto a CDROM disc!

Have fun!

I don't want to force a price on the DVD but I'd be willing to pay (for disc and cover) example: £10 + Delivery or £15 inc delivery. I've been buying and selling on Ebay for sometime and my rating is 169 so I have a fair idea for postage...you could then charge around £20 international but you'd have to be set up for Visa etc..as handling fees for international cheques and money orders is around £8 extra on the price! People who win my auctions from the US usually send cash {the last person 2 weeks ago sent $90} but this service even though a registered one isn't guaranteed!

wouldnt there be a problem with the DVDs? How does region coding come and the Pal/NTSC issue work on this. If your going to sell DVDs on the site you got to make 2 versions for Mr. Lee Fans in all parts of the world.Just wondering if its able to be uploaded how large will be the file to be downloaded. you probably havent worked out all the bugs but I just find it facinating all the tech.

Until we are able to upload those recordings, there is no point in thinking about reproducing them to DVD. Either way, I think a home solution would be too slow, expensive and time consuming.

Regarding the upload of a DVD quality video, there are different standards available for streaming and direct downloads. Either way, these would only be suitable for broadband connections. File sizes can be as large as 50mb for 20 minutes at high compression.

In order to move video from a digital DVD camera to a server, we need a new motherboard which incorporates a firewire connection. The addon cards are PCI and the restriction of the bus transfer makes the PC unsuitable, at least the card I'm using at the moment. The only other way is using an analog video editing card, but the quality ends up more detiriorated that if the original recording was done in analog . Memory and processor power are also very important, I don't think SDRam is fast enough for this.

With my current PC setup I'm finding it imposible. Until I find some free time to go and search for these components, I'll keep the recordings in a safe place.
