Today 09/10/01 I saw on www.futureent.com The Mummy DVD Region 1
Christopher Lee for £10.99 inc.p&p (UK Only) this price is only
available when you order it on the website and is advertised under
their 'Cheap DVDs' Section!
Picked it up the day of release! There aren't any extras, but, I am so glad it is finally out. I still almost cry at the end. CL can do so much with just his eyes.
I ordered one so I will have to wait a while! I imagine they'll get around the releasing the 'Special Edition' with extras and then the 'Directors Cut'.....knowing me....I'd buy all three anyway!
Even though this film has Christopher Lee in it...it's not high on my list of wants, but perhaps you can give me a reveiw when you've seen yours...who knows I might be tempted after all!
I've always rather liked this film. Peter Cushing is his on fine form and Mr. Lee brings a certain pathos to his titular role. Certainly one of my favourite 'Mummy' movies.
Ok, theres no extras. just happy to have it out on presine dvd quality in widescreen(to be enjoied for years to come vs the video tape version.Ive notice alot of complanys releasing movies with hardly any extras. the MGM Midnight Series for example. Its good to have them on DVD but there should be more stuff.
If you visit www.dvdworld.co.uk you'll find on DVD Region 2, 'She' with Ursula Andress, Christopher Lee, Bernard Cribbens, Peter Cushing! for £12.49 inc p&p,
I like the universal mummy films for what they are...but hammer Mummy shows the talent of Christopher Lee. Even in makeup and bandages you feel so much in his performance. The other hammer mummies didnt come close.. Just goes to show ya what a real actor can do in a part . Just like he did in Frankenstien. I love the mummy when he attacks he doesnt pause at all . Breaks a door down and never stops stride going right to his victim. Like a kiling machine looking for revenge like he is ..not a slow walking sluggish mummy my grand mother could out run. Hopefully Horror of Dracula and Curse of Frankenstien arent far behind
Kharis seems to be my favorite Mr. Lee monster (outside of Rasputin), largely because so of how much Christopher Lee emotes without saying a word. I sympathize with the character and really do not see him as a 'heavy' at all.
I would recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen for a most enjoyable take on the Mummy genre. Mr. Cushing was also excellent.
